본 논문은 2008년 이후 본격적으로 대세계 무역흑자를 기록한 일반기계부품산업의 대일본 경쟁력 현황과 변화 추이를 관찰하고, 이를 토대로 한일 간 무역불균형 해소방안을 모색하는 데 중점을 두었다. 분석방법은 무역특화지수와 국제산업연관분석의 레온티에프 승수와 후방연관효과 및 국제기술분업도지수를 도입하여 전개하였다. 분석 결과 2000년 이후 국내 일반기계부품산업의 대세계 및 대일본 경쟁력은 꾸준히 상승하고 있는 것으로 관찰되어, 동 산업의 대세계 무역흑자 구조 정착에 기여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 대일본 생산기술 격차 역시 지속적인 감소세를 보이고 있어, 대일본 기술 및 수입 의존도 심화현상이 점진적으로 개선되고 있음이 파악되었다.

This Paper focuses on analyzing the competitive power and trade imbalance of the general mechanical parts between Japan and Korea, the study adopted an international input-output framework and trade specific index to quantitatively measure the differential of the technical power between the two economies. And also focusing on grope of a casting plan for cancellation of a trade imbalance of the two countries. The empirical results showed that still depends heavily on imported the general mechanical parts from Japan. The results also showed clearly that Japan is gradually becoming more dependent on Korea`s the general mechanical parts. This implies that the technology gap between Korea and Japan has gradually narrowed throughout the sample period.
