중국은 2015년부터 본격적으로 ‘혁신창업’을 지원한 결과 2019년 기준 미국에 이어 두 번째로 많은 유니콘을 배출하며, 혁신 국가로써의 면모를 자랑하고 있다. 우수한 기술력과 인적자원을 보유하고 있음에도 혁신적인 스타트업의 탄생이 상대적으로 저조한 한국은 중국 혁신 스타트업들의 성공 요인에 대한 심도 있는 분석을 통해 한국형 혁신 기업 육성 전략을 수립할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 생태계적 관점에서 혁신 스타트업의 성장에 복합적으로 영향을 미치는 기업 내·외부의 다양한 요인들(기업 개요, 주요 성과, 창업의 배경 및 과정, 비즈니스 모델, 성공 및 애로 요인)을 분석했다. 특히, 중국의 여러 유니콘 중에서도 4차 산업혁명 분야에서 세계적인 경쟁력을 갖춘 혁신 기업 3개(센스타임, 바이트댄스, DJI)를 중점적으로 분석했다. 연구 결과, 중국의 혁신 기업들은 인공지능과 첨단기술을 활용하여 명확한 시장수요를 파악하고 문제 해결을 통해 가치를 실현하는 역량이 뛰어났다. 정부차원에서는 규제완화와 창업, 스케일 업 지원이 통합적으로 실행되면서 혁신 기업의 탄생과 성장이 가능했다. 이외에도 금융 제도, 펀드 구축, 인재 정책이 혁신기업의 성공에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.

This study aims to analyze the success factors of China's innovative start-ups. In 2015, China launched a new and intensive start-up promotion policy to foster ‘innovative start-ups’, which led China to become a country that has the second-largest number of unicorns in 2019, after the United States. Thus, beyond simply increasing in the number of new start-up businesses, China now has high national innovation capabilities and has power to influence the market. On the contrary, despite the high technological capabilities and human resources, Korea’s performance level of innovative start-up policy is weak. Thus, it is essential to identify the factors contributing towards the rapid success of Chinese innovative start-ups and come up with new solutions to take a leap forward. From an ecological perspective, this study identified various internal and external factors, which had a combined impact on the growth of innovative startups. Such factors include corporate overview, major performance, background and process of starting up a business, business model, success and barrier factors. Moreover, this analysis intended to draw meaningful lessons by focusing on three companies (i.e., Senstime, Byte Dance, DJI), which are known as the representative Chinese unicorns that achieved success with their originality of ideas and technology innovation.
