This paper discusses the acquisition order of anaphoric use of Japanese demonstratives expressions `ko-` `so-` `a-`. This study is based on results of the questionnaire which were taken by English speaking learners of Japanese as foreign language. Learners are divided into three groups according to total studying hours of the language. The main findings of the paper are as follows: 1) Usage of `ko-` was most easiry acquired. 2) Acquisition order of `so-` is as follows: 1. demonstrating `subjunctive` or `future` tense. 2. demonstrating `new information` for speakers. 3. demonstrating assumption of partner`s knowledge. 3) Usage of `a-` was difficult, which is used when domonstrating common kowledge` between speakers and listeners.
