The purpose of this paper is to develop a cost based quality control system which functions both as an acceptance sampling and as a manufacturing process control. The manufacturing process considered produces products at a constant production rate, and the process is subject to random failures in time which cause the proportion of defectives to shift upwards. Numerical examples are provided, highlighting the relationships between outgoing quality and production quantiy management.
