The purpose of this study was to examine type of helping skill of nursing students and the effect of the nursing couselling traing program on helping skill. To acomplish the purpose of purpose of this study, the hypothesis of this were establish as follows; The nursing students which were given nursing counselling training program will higher in score of therapeutic helping skill, but nontherapeutic helping skill(evaluation, interpretation, sympath examine, solving type) were lower than before. The subject of this study were 77 nursing students of university who volunteered to participate in this program. The subjects received training program for 26hours. The instrument used in this study was Sul(1990)`s helping skill measured scale. The statistical methods used means and Pared t-test . Pared t-test was run with SPSS/PC+WINDOWS( version 9.0) program. The conclusions based on the results are as follows: 1. The mean score about type of helping skill of nursing students were therapeutic (5.77), support(1.64), interpretation and solving (.77), examine(.71), evaluation(.31) ordinary. 2. The nursing counselling training program is effective for increasing therapeutic helping skill(p<.001), and decreasing nontherapeutic skill(sympath, interpretation and solving, examin, evaluation ) (p<.001).
