This thesis is an attempt to discuss the adverb "正" in modern Chinese Putongha(普通話). This term usually is divided into two grammatical words : modal adverb "正1", temporal adverb "正2". In the thesis, I will present arguments against this view. That is : "正" in "正VP" is a modal adverb ; the temporal feature in "正VP" originate from VP, which is have no immediate relation with "正".
