This article intends to show the importance of translating and interpreting ancient Greek classics though discussing why and haw to read Western Classics. No doubt, we do not study ancient Greek philosophy just for historical fun. Rather, to study ancient Greek philosophy is designed not only for figuring out the foundation of western philosophy at large, but also for gasping the whole western culture. In this regard, it is nothing other than `to do philosophy`. It also consists of the double work: the primary one is to study classical texts as they stand, and the secondary one is to penetrate commentators` philosophical interests found in their commentaries. It leads us to assert that the correct translation and commentary is necessary for studying Western Classics.
