This paper presents an image segmentation algorithm to obtain the 3D body shape data that the grid pattern and the body contour line in the background image are extracted. The body contour line is extracted based on the threshold value. The grid pattern extracted by grid pattern detection algorithm and the body contour line are combined into each other. The highpass filter and noise reduction algorithm is applied to obtain the segmented image. This proposed segmentation method is more effective than the conventional method which uses a gradient and a laplacian operator.
