When we evaluate a literary work, we have been mentioning only contents and quality of the work. Even when we deal with a work within the category called Criticism, we have not taken the linguistic aspect into consideration as a matter of course. However, a movement aimed at newly analyzing literary works with the theme Meeting of literature and language is being launched these days, and a great deal of investigation is under way. Furthermore, if we are in a position to carry out the two things of evaluating literary works and of creating them, we should make a study of linguistic aspect, in particular, semantic aspect. Language is the foundation of literary works and this language brings forth meaning. I think that a writer will have to make a selection of proper words in order to properly impart the contents he is thinking of to readers, and that a good work will come to be created when the appropriate works are adequately composed into sentences. In view of this, we will have to analyze literary works in the light of linguistic aspect as a matter of course. I have chosen Hwang Soon Wons work Sonagi which serenely remains in the hearts of many people among Korean representative short novels and stories and made a study of it, with an emphasis on time and space, the creation of persons, that of a theme, the form of expression, method of expression, etc. The following is the summary of the analyzed contents of meaning with an emphasis on "Sonagi" 1) Ordinarily, when a background and a foreground are presented, the background comes out first and then the foreground is presented. However, this work is more or less peculiar. The foreground appears immediately, in the main. We can see that this is a new attempt to break the then frame in which the distance between the writer and the readers is vague at first, but is being narrowed with the passage of time, and to approach directly. This is a technique by which the writer makes the readers properly recognize situation and attempts to create a well-organized composition. 2) There is a case in which a background mainly appears in the background of space and the foreground slowly appears, there is a case in which the background continues, but the foreground having different scenes appears, and there is a case in which the background doesnt appear, but the shift of the foreground appears. The forms in which the background mainly appears and gradually increases the atmosphere and presents the foreground in the state in which the readers interest is concentrated, appears a great deal. However, I could see that the writer made efforts to deepen the consciousness of the theme by shifting the core foreground. In my opinion, the writer recognized that the renewing of the composition through shifting the foreground by withdrawing from the method of shifting the background and the foreground freely could be a method. 3) The created person, a boy refers to a hero. When we create a person, we show a background person by an abstract expression, and a foreground person by a concrete one. In the work Sonagi, the writer has mainly used a common noun called A boy in showing a concrete foreground person. The boy, who is innocent and considerate of others is showing the regret of the inability to express his love for the girl even if he loves her. The created person, a girl also refers to a heroine.
