Purpose: To designed to examine the effects of solution-focused group counseling on the purpose in life and depression in the delinquent juveniles. Methods: The subjects consisted of 60 delinquent juveniles who had been placed under probation in Kwang-ju, and recruited from Oct., 2000 to Dec., 2000. The solution-focused group counseling was conducted for the experimental group once a week for 120 to 180 minutes for 6 weeks, and not for the control group. For both groups the level of purpose in life and depression were measured before and after the experiment. Result; 1. The purpose-in life increased in the experimental group and significantly decreased in the control group. A significant difference between the two groups was not revealed. 2. The depression significantly decreased in the experimental group and significantly increased in the control group. A significant difference between the two groups was revealed. Conclusion : This study seems likely that solution-focused group-counselling has a positive effect on the depression.
