본 연구는 축적된 연구결과를 토대로 신수도 건설의 구체적 모습을 마련하고 있는 일본의 사례를 살펴보고, 이러한 일본의 신수도 이미지가 우리나라의 신행정 수도 건설에 시사하는 점들을 고찰하고 있다. 일본에서는 신수도 건설의 기본 이념으로 `일본의 진로를 상징하는 도시` `새로운 정치ㆍ행정도시` `본격적인 국제정치도시` 등을 상정하고 있다. 기본 이념을 구체화하기 위하여 신수도를 `평화주의를 표방하는 국가의 신수도` `일본의 미래상을 생각하는 문화도시` `환경공생형의 도시`로 건설하고자 하고 있다. 도시경관은 친근감과 해방감을 느끼게 하면서도, 전체적으로는 정치ㆍ행정의 중심지로서 적격인 품격을 갖춘 미관을 형성하도록 배려하고 있다. 우리나라의 신행정수도도 세계 여러 국가의 사례를 비교ㆍ검토하고, 우리 고유의 역사성과 민족의식, 국민성 등을 고려한 미래지향적인 도시로 건설되어야 할 것이다.

The purposes of this study are to examine the case of New Capital City(NCC) in Japan which based on the results of cumulative studies and to review some suggestions of their NCC images for building our New Administrative Capital. The basic ideologies of NCC in Japan are ‘The Symbol of the Way Ahead’, ‘new Politics and Administration City’, and ‘Real International City’. To realize the ideologies Japan tries to build NCC as ‘the city of peace-loving nation’, ‘the cultural city of nation’s future’, ‘the city of symbiosis.’ The scenery of the city is designed to feel familiarity and freedom, and to form the beauty of the grace of politics and administration center in general. New Administrative Capital City in Korea should be built as the future-oriented city to express our historical consciousness, nationality, etc. And the city also should create the shape of our own characteristics.
