번역투란 직역의 번역 방법으로 산출된 번역문에 존재하는 원문 외국어 구조의 전이 흔적으로, 관점에 따라 이중적인 의미를 가질 수 있다. 모국어의 구조에서 볼 때 고유의 규칙을 어긴 이질적인 존재라는 측면에서는 번역투가 극복의 대상이 되지만, 더 나은 번역의 결과를 얻기 위한 번역 교육에 투입될 수 있는 소중한 자료라는 측면에서는 번역투가 폐기의 대상이 아니라 오히려 소중한 교육 자료이기 때문이다. 국어 교과서에 나타난 번역투 문장을 추출하여 분석한 본고의 논의도 번역투에 대한 양면적인 입장을 견지했다. 국어 교과서에서 자료를 조사한 결과를 보면, 한문과 일본어 번역투에 비해 영어 번역투가 유형과 빈도 측면에서 압도적으로 많았다. 영어 번역투의 경우, 구문 형식과 굴절 요소, 전치사구, 기타의 영역으로 나누어서 살펴보았는데, 전치사구의 전이가 가장 빈번하게 나타났다. 이는 영어를 직접 번역하면서 발생한 전이 현상일 수도 있지만, 일본어를 거쳐서 들어온 중역의 결과일 수도 있다.

When a work, especially literary work, sounds foreign as a result of a word-for-word translation, we often treat it as a bad work. Of course, from the viewpoint of the L-l(target language) structure, a strict translation has many things to overcome as it breaks the intrinsic rules of L-l. However, in terms of translation instruction, such a work may serve as a correctional material, a profoundly valuable aid in learning a better translation. With the instructional purpose in mind, this paper examines some of the translation works printed in the Korean textbooks used from elementary to high school period. The result shows that English patterns appear overwhelmingly more in number, compared to those of Chinese and Japanese. Out of several areas investigated in syntactic forms, inflectional elements, prepositional phrases, etc., prepositional phrases turn out to be most easily transferred. This may come from the direct Korean translation of English or from the indirect Korean translation of English by way of the Japanese translation of English.
