본 논문은 서울과 춘천지역에 거주하는 60세 이상 노년층의 미시적 자료를 활용, 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하여 노년층의 은퇴결정에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 연구이다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 이들 노년층을 성별과 거주지별로 구분하여 남성과 여성 간에 그리고 도시 거주자와 농촌 거주자간에 은퇴결정에 영향을 미치는 요인에 있어 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 비교분석하였다. 전체자료를 대상으로 분석한 결과는 성별 및 거주지역 별로 구분하여 분석한 결과와 여러 요인들에 있어 상이한 결과를 보여주고 있다. 이러한 분석결과는 노년층에 대한 경제활동 및 은퇴 이후의 노후생환과 관련된 다양한 정책수립과 시행에 있어, 천편일률적인 정책보다는 성별과 거주지역 등 정책수혜자들의 특성을 고려하여 수립된 차별화된 정책이 더 효율적일 수 있음을 제언한다. 한편, 적절한 은퇴시기와 노후준비의 주된 책임자에 대한 주관적 인식요인은 노년충의 은퇴결정에 있어 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 변수임이 확인되었다.

Based on data from a survey sample of people aged 60 and older in Seoul and Chuncheon, this article investigates the factors which have influence on decision of retirement among the elderly. A logistic model is employed to analyze the likelihood of the elderly`s withdrawing from labor market. In particular, this article examines gender differences as well as regional differences in deciding to retire. The results show considerable gender and regional variation in the extent of the effects of determinants of elderly`s retirement decision. Such findings suggest that characteristics of recipients such as gender, age, and residential area should be taken into account in establishing national policies and programs dealing with aging in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness. The results also show that variables such as subjective perception on proper time for retirement and on who is mainly responsible for old age preparation have significant influence on his/her likelihood of withdrawing from labor market.
