이 글은 사회주의자이자 평등주의자이며 노동자 계급의 `집단적 이익`을 대변한 실천적 이론가로 이해되고 있는 전통적인 맑스상(像)에 반(反)하여, 비록 그가 사회주의 체제로서의 해방사회의 구현을 추구했지만 이는 근본적으로 특정 계급이나 집단이 아닌, `모든 개인`의 자유구현을 염두에 두고 시도된 것이란 점에서 맑스의 사회철학은 `숙고(熟考)된 자유주의`의 한 입장으로 해석될 수 있다는 점을 부각시켜보는데 일차적 관심을 갖고 있다 나아가 이러한 관점에서 새롭게 독해된 맑스 철학의 자유주의적 판본, 즉 `맑스적 자유주의`가 지니는 의의와 그것이 우리사회에 기여할 수 있는 역할에 대해 반성적으로 고찰해 보고자 했다. `개인의 자유`에 초점을 맞추어 새롭게 조망된 맑스의 사회철학은, 자본주의의 구조적 불평등과 소외를 각각 `인간 상호간의 자유상실적 관계`와 `자유의 상실태`로 통찰하고 있으며 사회적 평등의 확립에 관해서도 `실질적 자유 구현`의 관점에서 논하고 있다. 또한 개인의 자유는 사회적 관계의 총체적 변환을 통한 개인들 상호간의`자유롭고 평등한 관계`의 확립을 통해서만 확보될 수 있다고 본다. 나아가 그러한 평등한 인간관계를 기반으로, 모든 개인이 `자아실현`이라는 참된 의미의 자유를 향유하게 되는 해방사회를 역사발전의 궁극적 지향점으로 설정한다. 이러한 맑스적 자유주의는 한국사회와 관련하여, `신자유주의 논리`의 무차별적 확산으로 인한 사회적 폐해를 최소화하고 그에 맞서는 방어논리를 구축하는데 긴요한 지침을 제공해줄 수 있으며, `적극적 자유`의 구현을 위한 구체적 프로그램을 마련하는데 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있다. 나아가 한국적 현실을 제대로 조망할 수 있는 `대안적 사회철학`의 정립과 관련하여 유의미한 교훈과 시사점을 제시해줄 수 있을 것이다.

This article aims at revealing that Marx`s social philosophy can be interpreted as a version of deliberated liberalism, in the light of the fact that his philosophy makes an attempt of not the fulfillment of the classical interest of particular group the realization of liberty of all the individuals as members of the society, though he tries to pursue the construction of the emancipated human society. And from the point of view as previously stated, this article is intended to inquire into reflectively the version of Marx`s social philosophy focusing its significances and roles in Korean society. By being centered on the liberty of individual, newly viewed Marx`s social philosophy considers `social inequality` and `alienation` in capitalism as `reciprocal relation of liberty-loss between human beings` and `loss of freedom` respectively, and takes the construction of social equality into account from the standpoint of `realization of material liberty`. In addition, it argues that the liberty of individual can be guaranteed through the establishment of free and equal human relation among members of society by transforming totally the social relation. Furthermore it tries to set up the emancipatory society in which genuine liberty as self-realization of all the individuals can be accomplished as the fmal goal of historical development. This Marxian liberalism is expected to contribute to minimize bad effects caused by the indiscriminate expansion of `the offensive logic of neo-liberalism`, and to construct the defensive logic against it in Korean society. Besides, deliberated liberalism can contribute to prepare the concrete programme for realization of positive liberty of all the members of society. Finally Marxian liberalism can give the meaningful lessons and suggestions for the security of foundation for the construction of alternative social philosophy which have an insight into the reality of Korean society.
