현재의 우리 사회는 漢字敎育의 必要性에 대한 공감대가 점차 확산되고 있으며 여러 학자들은 漢字의 道具 敎科的 性格이나 敎科學力 向上과의 相關關係를 강조하며 한자교육의 당위성에 대한 이론적 근거를 제시하고 있다. 이에 따라서 初等學校 현장에서도 漢字敎育을 실시하는 학교가 증가 추세에 있다는 사실은 매우 바람직하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 한자교육의 실상을 들여다보면 해결해야 할 문제점 또한 매우 많다. 그 중에서도 漢字 指導方法에 대한 硏究가 不足한 상태에서 쓰기 중심으로 이루어지는 한자교육은 학생들의 한자에 대한 흥미를 떨어뜨려 교육의 역효과를 낳고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교 학생들의 한자학습에 흥미를 가지고 자발적인 참여를 유도할 수 있는 活動中心의 다양한 漢字 指導方法에 대하여 소개하였다. 여기에서 제시한 카드 활용법, 빙고, 색칠하기, 주사위 놀이, 스피드 퀴즈, 신문 활용법 등의 다양한 방법들은 초등학교 현장에서 한자교육을 실시하고자 하는 누구나 별다른 준비나 어려움 없이 즉시 활용할 수 있는 내용을 중심으로 하였다. 초등학교 현장에서 漢字를 指導함에 있어 반드시 명심해야할 基本原理는 目印法이다. 즉 활동을 통하여 한자를 자주 눈에 익힘으로써 자연스럽게 한자를 배워가는 방식이다. 이러한 방식은 그동안의 한자지도가 쓰기를 지나치게 강조한데서 발생하는 문제점을 극복할 수 있으며 언어생활의 실용적 가치 측면에 있어서도 읽기가 쓰기보다 훨씬 많이 쓰인다는 점을 생각하면 상당히 효과적인 방법임을 알 수 있다. 이러한 방법상의 원리를 명확히 이해한 바탕 아래에서 학생들의 주의를 집중시킬 수 있는 다양한 학습 방법의 개발, 적용이야말로 점차 고조되어가고 있는 漢字敎育을 더욱 活性化시킬 수 있는 지름길이라 할 수 있겠다. 아울러 위에서 제시한 방법들을 漢字의 構造나 生成原理 등에 대한 깊은 이해 속에서 보다 정교하고 치밀하게 다듬는다면 보다 효과적이지 않을까 하는 생각이 든다. 한자지도의 방법은 매우 다양하다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 연구자가 제시한 방법보다 더욱 능률적인 방법이 있을 수 있고 또 그러한 방식으로 묵묵히 한자지도를 수행하고 있는 많은 교사들이 분명히 존재한다. 앞으로 보다 많은 연구와 교류를 통해서 보다 ?盛하고 發展된 漢字 指導方法들을 共有하게 되길 바라는 마음이다. 初等學校에서의 효율적인 漢字 指導方法들은 이론상의 탐색이 아니라 실질적 實踐의 問題이다. 꾸준한 지도의 과정에서 만나게 되는 시행착오와 이를 개선하기 위한 노력이 한자 지도방법 발전의 원동력이라 생각한다.

Currently, the need of Chinese character education is becoming pervasive in Korean society. Many scholars have presented theological bases of the necessity of Chinese character education, emphasizing its identity as an instrumental subject and its correlation with academic developments. Therefore, the Chinese character education within elementary schools is on the increase. With the introduction of Chinese character education, some issues have been raised. One of them is a writing-centered instruction. The instruction without enough researches into the methods of teaching the characters disappoints many students. In this study you can see the scheme of teaching the characters that is based on student activities. The scheme includes diverse methods such as cards, bingo games, coloring, dice games, speed quizes and newspaper-searching. This is far more useful for anyone who wants to teach the characters at an elementary school level without encountering big difficulties nor unnecessary preparations. The `eye catching approach` is essential in teaching Chinese characters within elementary schools. Teaching a variety of activities gives students more opportunities to see the letters. Such frequent exposure leads the learners to the unconscious acquisition. This approach is believed to solve the deep-rooted problems that have been caused by the overestimated writing ability in Chinese character education. The approach is found to be more practical and effective whenever you admit `reading is more important than writing in real situations. The shortcut for accelerating this education will show itself after new versatile teaching methods from your firm knowledge of this approach have been developed and applied to. It is essential for teachers to have profound understanding of the structure of Chinese characters or the generative principles of them for the student friendly teachings. There are countless methods for teaching the letters so I am sure there are better methods than mine. There are also many good teachers who accomplish great job with such better ways. I hope we can share the more plentiful and much developed ways through more researches and interchanges with each other. The efficient teaching methods of Chines characters within elementary schools come from not theoretical inquires but real practices. The main power of the education is the teachers` endeavor to dissolve many trial and errors.
