이 논문의 초점은 탈근대 사회 유교윤리의 긍정적 기능을 살피는데 있다. 근대화가 곧 서구화로 비쳐지던 시절 전통문화로서의 유교윤리는 부정 또는 비판의 당연한 대상이었다. 그러나 획일적인 이런 풍토가 재검토되고 재비판되면서 유교 윤리는 다시금 일말의 가능성을 엿보였고, 급기야 유교윤리가 발전의 걸림돌이 아닌 발전의 디딤돌이라는 논리도 나오게 되었다. 가장 혹독하게 유교문화를 부정 비판했던 중국사회는 21세기 들어 유교복원에 혈안이 된 듯 보이기도 하는데, 이들은 단지 윤리 도덕적 유교윤리 복원이 아닌 정치 경제적 세계화 전략과 맞물려 유교윤리를 세계보편문화로 활용하려는 의도까지 드러내놓고 선언할 정도이다. 물론 이 논의를 그대로 긍정하는 것은 아니지만, 유교윤리의 현대적 적용가능성이 어느 정도 있다는 것이다. 바로 탈근대사회 다양성 존중의 풍토에서 유교 윤리는 다시금 검토되고 있다는 것이다. 이것을 이 논문에서는 우리나라 중·고등학교 도덕 윤리 교과서를 통해 분석하였고, 최근 연구동향을 통해 점검하였다. 비록 유교인구는 사라지고 있지만, 유교윤리만은 여전히 한국사회의 중심문화로 기능하고 있음을 분석한 것이다. 특히 유교윤리의 위민(爲民)사상과 대동(大同)사상, 그리고 애친경장(愛親敬長)의 풍토는 날로 팽창하는 개인주의문화를 보완할 중요한 단서가 된다는 것이다.
This paper`s purpose is to make an observation of positive functions of Confucian ethics in the postmodern society. At the time when the modernization was considered as Westernization, Confucian ethics as traditional culture was the object of negation or criticism. But as such a uniform climate began to reexamine and re-criticize; Confucian ethics once again show off a certain possibility. And finally it is emerged, that is the logic which maintains that Confucian ethicsis not at all an obstacle against development, but a step stone for development. Even the Chinese which had been a most critical about Confucian culture appears to get excited to recover Confucianism. Chinese is none only recovering Confucian ethics but also pronouncing openly to intend to apply Confucian ethics to worldly universal culture. While are we will accept their arguments, we think that there are some possibilities of Confucian ethics to apply to current. In a word, in the regard of postmodern society`s respect for diversity, Confucian ethics is reexamined. In this paper, we are trying to analyze by studying Korean ethical textbooks for middle&high school and consulting the recent studying tendency. In consequence, we revealed that although Confucian populace is disappearing, but Confucian ethics is still functioning as Korean central culture. Especially we will make certain of Confucian ethics` possibility which will be the first step for supplement for increasing individualistic culture. Probably, it is by virtue of thought in righteousness for the people(爲民思想), thought of Great Unity(大同思想) and thought of loving one`s parent and reverencing one`s older brother(愛親警長).
