본 논문은 전략적 제휴를 조직간 학습과정으로 규정하고, 각각의 제휴 파트너들이 전략적 제휴를 통해 어떤 학습 유형을 추구하느냐에 따라 조직간 지식 이전의 속도가 차이난다고 설정하였다. 제휴 파트너들의 조직학습 유형(지식 탐색과 지식 활용)이 서로 다를 경우는 여타 경우에 비해 상대적으로 지식이전의 속도가 빠를 것이며, 제휴 파트너들의 조직학습 유형이 모두 지식 활용인 경우는 다른 경우에 비해 상대적으로 지식이전의 속도가 늦을 것이다. 본 논문은 생수 산업에서 다국적 기업과 현지기업간의 합작투자 사례분석을 통해 이 같은 명제들을 살펴보았다. 사례 분석 결과 상호 보완적인 지식 기반은 학습 제휴의 강력한 동기가 될 수 있지만, 아울러 성공 체험을 바탕으로 축적된 지식은 조직간 학습에 걸림돌이 될 수도 있었다.

The creation of new knowledge is a major challenge for all organizations. This paper defines strategic alliance as inter-organizational process and examines organizational learning and knowledge acquisition in the strategic alliance context. The learning type(exploration and exploitation) of alliance partner effects on the speed and efficiency of knowledge transfer between alliance partners. The greater the difference the learning intent of an alliance, the faster the speed of knowledge transfer between partners. And The smaller the difference the learning intent of an alliance(pursue the same intent like exploitation), the slower the speed of knowledge transfer between partners. This paper analyzes the case of joint venture between MNC and local company in bottled water industry. The paper considers the question of why some partner`s complementary knowledge is not only a strong motive for learning alliance, but also a barrier of collective learning between partners.
