이 연구의 목적은 바람직한 독서 환경을 조성하고, 다양한 독서 프로그램을 개발하여 수업에 적용함으로써 아동들의 국어 의사 소통 능력을 신장시키는 방안을 탐구하는 데 있다. 독서 활동과 지도에 관한 이론적 근거를 문헌 연구를 통하여 살펴보았고, 설문 조사와 독서 능력 진단을 통한 실태 분석의 결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 연구 과제를 설정하여 실천하였다. 첫째, 독서 활동을 위한 아동 중심의 학습 환경을 조성하고 독서 지도에 대한 이해와 지도 방법에 대해 가정과 연계 활동을 한다. 둘째, 다양한 독서 프로그램을 개발하여 전개하고 독서 프로그램에 도움이 되는 활동들을 전개한다. 셋째, 관련 교과 단원의 지도 내용을 분석하여 수업에 독서 프로그램을 적용한다. 사전 사후 검사 비교, 설문 조사, 어휘력 검사, 관찰 누가 기록의 방법 등으로 연구의 결과를 분석하고 검증하였다. 독서 활동을 위한 아동 중심의 학습 환경 조성하여 독서 활동을 전개한 결과, 1학년 아동들이 거부감 없이 자연스럽게 책을 가까이 하게 되었다. 아동들의 가정에 독서 교육에 대한 이해와 지도 방법에 대한 여러 가지 안내를 한 결과, 독서 교육의 필요성은 절실히 공감하면서도 구체적이고 효과적인 방법을 몰라서 난감해 하던 학부모들이 독서교육에 적극 참여하게 되어 학급과 가정에서 연계된 교육을 하게 되었다. 1학년 아동 수준에 맞는 다양하고 흥미로운 독서 활동을 전개함으로써 아동들이 독서의 즐거움에 심취되어 적극적으로 독서 활동에 참여하게 되었고, 기존의 독후 활동과는 다른, 만들고 그리는 비언어적 활동을 통해 말하는 것에 자신이 없는 아동들도 자신감을 갖게 되었다. 함께 병행한 언어적 감상 활동은 발표 의욕을 촉진시켜 자신의 생각을 조리있게 말하는 기능을 눈에 띄게 향상시켰다. 꾸준한 독서 활동으로 집중력이 향상되어 전체 수업에 대한 분위기로까지 파급되어 진지한 수업 태도로 스스로 학습하려는 태도가 길러졌고, 다양한 경험을 토대로 하여 스스로 좋은 책을 선별하여 읽으려는 태도도 형성되었다. 관련 교과 단원의 지도 내용을 분석하여 각 지도 내용에 맞는 독서 프로그램을 수업에 적용함으로써 독서와 교과를 더욱 긴밀히 연결하여 교사의 활동보다 아동들의 활동이 많은 수업을 전개할 수 있었고 저학년에서 많이 사용하는 타교과와의 통합 교과 수업의 진행에 유용한 방법이 되었다. 독서 프로그램을 교과 수업에 적용한 수업 지도안을 동료 교사들과 공유하고 본 연구자의 수업을 공개함으로써 현장의 교사들이 교수·학습 활동과 연계한 독서 지도를 하는 데 실질적인 도움이 되었다.

The aim of this study is to help proper reading conditions, apply various reading programs to school work so that we will find methods to improve Korean communication ability of students. I have examined the theoretical basis on reading activity and guidance through studying documents, and practiced the following research tasks based on the result that I have analysed the actual condition through making up questions and diagnosing reading capability. First, we should make up learner-centered studying environment, take an active part linked with home about understanding reading guidance and the guidance methods. Secondly, we should develop various reading programs, display activities to be a help for reading programs. Thirdly, we should analyse the guidance details of the related course units, and apply reading programs to teaching. I promoting learner-centered studying condition for reading activity and developing reading activity, the first grade students has had the natural habit to be close to books without resistance. After I showed diversely learners`` parents about understanding of reading guidance in home and guiding methods, they have joined actively in reading guidance and have done instruction linked with home and school, who had sympathized keenly the necessity of reading instruction, but had not known the concrete and effective ways so been unendurable. The learners has fascinated with the pleasure of reading, took active part in reading activity by spreading out various and interesting reading activity fit to the level of the first grade students, so that even the learners who had had no confidence of speaking through non-verbal activity to make and draw, different the previous reading activity, has got the self-confidence. The linguistic appreciation activity that had been run parallel with has promoted the desire to express the learners`` mind, has improved their ability to speak logically own thinking. Continuous reading activity has advanced the learners`` concentration, the mood has spread out into the whole class and guided their attitude to learn by oneself in serious learning attitude, and built up the attitude that the learners by oneself will read good books selectively. As I analysed the guidance details of the related course units and applied reading programs pertinent to each instruction details, I could spread out learner-active reading program, not teacher-active programs, by linking with reading and curriculum closely, and has been useful way in progressing unified curriculum lessons with other subjects that is being used in the lower grade class. It has been in practically handy for teachers on the spot to guide reading course that is linked with teaching-learning activity, that had been possible for me to share with other teachers the teaching proposal applied to course lesson, and to open to the public my class.
