이 글에서는 일반 언어 사용자 또는 상담자의 처지에서 실제 국어 상담 사례를 예로 들어가며 현행 한글 맞춤법 및 표준어 규정(표준 발음법 포함) 가운데 문제가 있는 조항들을 살펴보았다. 한글 맞춤법에서는 된소리 표기, 두음 법칙, 자음 접미사, 사이시옷, ``ㅟ－어``나 ``하``의 준말 표기, ``씨``의 띄어쓰기, ``－이, －히``의 표기, 본음과 속음, 문장 부호에 대해 살펴보았고, 표준어에서는 ``열둘째``와 ``열두째``, ``수캉아지``와 ``수고양이``, ``난쟁이``와 ``난장이``, 세 잔 / 석 잔 / 서 잔, ``먹거리`` 문제에 대해 살펴보았다. 또한, 표준발음 문제에서는 ``ㅢ``의 발음, 겹받침의 발음, ``온라인``과 ``인라인``의 발음, ``콧등``의 발음, 된소리 발음에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 어문규정이 통일되고 편리한 언어 사용에 도움을 주지 못하고 지나치게 어렵거나 혼란을 가져오는 일이 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 문제를 해결하려면 현행 어문규정이 좀 더 정밀하고 체계적으로 다듬어져야 할 것이다. 이러한 논의와 국어 상담의 실질적인 사례가 어문규정 개정에 중요한 밑바탕이 될 것이라고 믿는다. 어문규정의 개정으로 어문규정이 올바른 언어 사용을 이끌고 언어 사용의 준거가 될 수 있기를 기대해 본다.

I examined the regulations that themselves are complicated, that can be translated arbitrarily, and that there are problems in or between them, among the contents related to the existing spelling system of Hangeul and the regulation of the Standard Korean language(the pronunciation in the Standard Korean language included). Also, I indicated some problems of the existing regulations of the Korean language to focus that there are difficulty and confusion in practical language use, for example of real Korean counsel in the public`s place rather than the linguistic approach. As a result, I confirmed that the regulations of the Korean language are not uniformed and unhelpful for convenient language use but too hard or confusing. To solve these problems, the existing regulations of the Korean language should be refined elaborately or systematically. In this writing, I just indicated some problems of the existing regulations of the Korean language for example of real Korean counsel. I believe that this discussion or example of real Korean counsel will be the basis of the regulation revision. Through the revision of the regulations of the Korean language, I expect that it can be basis of the right language use.
