This study considers the issue of corpus work in relation to the teaching and learning of business English. The aim of this paper is to examine typical lexical and collocational features in various texts for and about business by building and analysing a corpus of written business English. The key method of analysis is that of keyness, semantic association and semantic prosody, which show that lexical items in business English corpus have certain characteristics which distinguish business reports from general English. After a brief review about business English and ESP teaching and learning, the main research is presented to show that corpus-based analysis about business English reveals (semi-)technical lexis and strong tendencies for lexical relations.
