생명복제시대란 생명체 자체를 대상으로 권력이 작동하는 시대다. 푸코는 생명권력 내지 생명정치의 개념을 발전시키면서 그것이 ``인구 / 주민``를 대상으로 한다는 점을 강조했지만, 지금의 생명정치는 인구의 범위를 넘어서 생명 자체를 대상으로 한다. 이 논문에서는 생명자체를 대상으로 하는 이러한 생명정치가 어떻게 성립되었는가를 규명하고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 인간을 동물처럼 실험대상으로 삼는 수용소를 모델로 근대의 생명정치를 규정한 아감벤을 비판하면서, 생명정치의 문제는 휴머니즘을 넘어서 사유해야 함을 분명히 한다. 그리고 생체실험은 수용소를 모델로 하는 게 아니라 임상의학 자체에 그 계보학적 발생계기를 갖고 있었음을 보여주고자 한다. 더불어 의학이 행정 내지 경찰적 권력과 결합하게 했던 전염병의 문제 역시 근대적 생명정치의 중요한 계기라는 점에서 그 발생지점을 다시 볼 것이다. 의학에서 발생한 이러한 권력이 생명 자체를 겨냥하게 된 것은 전염병의 문제를 세균이란 개념을 통해 실험실에서 다루게 된 파스퇴르를 통해서였다. 이 세 가지 계기를 통해 현재 작동하는 생명정치의 장을 명확히 규정할 수 있을 것이다.

The age of life reproduction is an age that the power is exercised on life itself. When Foucault developed the concept of bio-power or bio-politics, he stressed that the object of bio-politics is ``population.`` However, the object of today`s bio-politics goes beyond the boundary of ``(human) population`` and expanded to the life itself. This paper aims to explore how such bio-politics that dealt with the life itself was established. In doing so, I will first criticize Giorgio Agamben who defined modern bio-politics on the model of the concentration camp that used human beings as the object for experimentation like animals, and clarify that the question of bio-politics must go beyond the matter of humanism. I would also demonstrate that human experimentation was not modelled after the concentration camp, but its birth has a genealogical moment rooted in clinical medicine itself. The question of epidemics which had made medical science to unify with administrative or police power was also an important moment for modern bio-politics. Hence, its point of generation will also be looked into. It was from Pasteur, who treated the question of epidemics with the concept of microbes, that the power born from medical science started to target life itself. By looking at these three moment, the field of bio-politics operating today would be clearly defined.
