여행의 의미는 공간 이동이라는 외적 조건이 아니라 경이감이라는 내적 요소에 의해 충족된다. 경이감 속에서 삶은 자유로워지고 세계는 새로워지며, 세계와의 일체감을 확인할 수 있다. 이것이 바로 예술작품이 잉태되는 지점이며 존립하는 근거이다. 漢文學史에서는 史馬遷 이래 오랜 세월 여행과 문학 사이 불가분의 상관성에 관한 논의를 축적하여 왔다. 실제 우리는 문학사의 검토를 통해 漢詩史의 초기 흐름이 여행과 긴밀한 관계에 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이 글은 18세기 후반 朴齊家가 남긴 일련의 燕行 漢詩를 검토하여, 여행이 얼마나 다양한 방식으로 문학작품을 산출하며, 또 그 문학작품들은 얼마나 심원한 상징적 의미를 지니는가를 살펴본 것이다. 현실적으로 박제가의 삶은 실패했다. 하지만 상징적인 차원에서, 박제가는 여행을 통해 온갖 의문을 풀고 앎을 얻은 자기 인생의 주인공이자, 조선 사회의 문제를 해결할 비방과 지혜를 얻어 온 영웅이었다. 이 때문에 우리는 지금도 그 삶에 감동하고 그 인물을 동경하는 것이다. 여행은 한 개별자의 행위이면서 하나의 거대한 상징이 되기도 한다. 때로 그것은 한 개인의 내면이 성숙하는 데 그치지 않고 한 사회의 문제를 해결하기 위해 거쳐야 할 祭儀가 된다. 우리는 18세기 후반 박제가를 위시한 몇몇 지식인들의 燕行과 이들이 지은 문학작품에서 여행이 지니는 풍부한 상징적 의의를 발견할 수 있다.

The significance of travel is met by an internal factor of marvel rather than an external factor of spatial transfer. In a feeling of wonder, your life can be free, you encounter a new world, and you can confirm togetherness with the world. This is where a work of art is created and is the foundation of its existence. In the history of Chinese literature, debates on the inseparable correlation between travel and literature have been performed for a long period of time since Ssu-ma Chien. Actually, the fact that the initial trends in the history of Chinese poetry were in close relation to travel can be verified. The purpose of this study was to research the types of methods travel can create literary works and the deep symbolic meaning of the literary works by reviewing a series of the "Diplomatic Travel to Beijing" made by Jae-ga Park in the latter half of the 18th century. In terms of reality, his life was a failure. But, in terms of symbol, he was the lead of his life, who solved all of his questions and obtained knowledge through travel, and a hero who obtained solutions to the problems of the Chosun Dynasty and wisdom for resolving them. Owing to these, we are still moved by his life and worship him. Travel is the action of an individual and becomes a huge symbol. Sometimes, it becomes a ritual for resolving the problems of a society rather than a progress for the inner maturity of an individual. From the diplomatic travel to Beijing by some intellects including Jae-ga Park in the latter half of the 18thcentury and their literary works, the deep symbolic significance of travel can be found.
