본 연구의 목적은 여로형 소설의 이해의 심화와 감상 능력의 신장을 위한 효과적인 여로형 소설 교육의 내용을 선정함에 있다. 본고는 김승옥의 「무진기행」, 「환상수첩」, 이문열의 「그해겨울」( 젊은 날의 초상 ), 최윤의 「하나코는 없다」, 윤후명의 「하얀 배」를 텍스트로 여로형 소설의 의미구현의 일반적인 특성과 그러한 특성이 소설작품에서 구체적으로 실현된 모습을 해석한 다음, 그것을 토대로 소설교육에 적용될 수 있는 내용에 대해 모색해보고 그것이 구체적으로 어떻게 수용되어야 하는지에 대한 논의이다. 본고에서 제시한 교육 내용이 소설 교육에 적용되었을 때 기대되는 효과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 여로형 소설을 이해하고 감상하는 능력을 기를 수 있다. 여로형 소설에서 그 기본 구조와 여로의 상징적인 의미는 여로형 소설의 공통적이고 보편적인 특성을 갖는다. 여로형 소설의 기본 구조에 대한 이해와, 여로의 상징적인 의미에 대해 이해한다는 것은 앞으로 읽게 될 다른 여로형 소설을 이해할 수 있는 모형을 배웠다는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 여로형 플롯의 서사문학은 동화에서부터 소설에 이르기까지 유사한 여로의 구조와 의미를 갖는다. 그러므로 여로의 구조와 그 상징적인 의미는 학습자료로서 기본적인 성격에 해당하며, 학습자의 발단단계에 맞는 용어를 선택한다면 고등지식과 초보지식 사이의 간격을 좁힐 수 있다. 셋째, 소설 교육의 내용이 텍스트의 구조와 긴밀하게 연관되어 제시됨으로써 교수－학습의 효율성을 높이고, 학습자의 흥미를 불러올 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to select the proper contents for effective education to promote deep understanding and appreciation of journey-type novels. This paper examined and by Kim, Seung-Oak, and by Yi, Moon-Yul, by Choi, Yoonee, and by Yoon, Hoomyung as the texts, and then interpreted the general characteristics of the meaning implementation of journey novels and the form of specific implementation of such characteristics in the actual works. Then, based on these findings, the paper proposed some contents that can be applied in literary education and discussed specifically how they should be introduced. The expected effects when the suggested educational contents are actually applied in the novel education can be summarized as follows. First, the students can improve their understanding and appreciation of journey novels. The basic structure and the symbolic meaning of journey have a common and general feature in a journey novel. Understanding the basic structure of journey novels and the symbolic meaning of jour-ney means that the students learned to understand a model for other journey novels they will read in the future. Second, the epic literature of the journey-style plot has a similar structure and meaning of journey, ranging from fairy tales to high-level novels. Therefore, the structure and symbolic meaning of journey have the basic quality as a study material, and if selecting the right terms at the level of the learners, the gap between high-level knowledge and basic knowledge can be reduced. Third, the contents of novel education are presented as keenly related to the structure of the text, improving the efficiency of teaching and learning and bringing about the interest of the students.
