국어과 교사는 국어교육의 질을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요인이다. 임용시험 체제는 국어교육의 질을 결정하는 중요한 요인으로서의 교사를 선발하는 시험이라는 점에서 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 교육인적자원부는 2009학년도 중등교사 임용시험부터 새로운 시험 체제를 도입하겠다고 했으며, 그 특성은 전공 1차 시험은 선택형문항, 전공 2차 시험은 논술형 문항, 3차 시험은 수업실기 능력 평가 형태로 실시 하겠다고 밝힌 바 있다. 이 연구는 이 중에서도 제1차와 제2차 전공시험에 한정하여 기존의 임용시험 문항을 검토하고 새로운 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 국어 교사에게 요구되는 능력을 국어과 전공 능력을 중심으로 해서 살펴보면 2가지를 들 수 있다. 하나는 ``교과지식의 이해와 적용 능력``이며, 다른 하나는 ``국어교육에 대한 총체적인 설계와 실행 능력``이다. 이러한 능력을 평가하기 위한 임용시험 문항의 방향에 대해 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 교과지식을 국어교육 장면에 적용할 수 있는 문항, 국어교육 장면에서의 문제 해결형 평가 문항이 그것이다. 그리고 서술형 문항과 논술형 문항을 위해 수험자의 능력에 대한 변별력을 지닌 채점 기준이 필요하다.

The abilities for Korean teacher to have are the very important element to determine the quality of Korean education. When we inquire into the abilities which are required of Korean teacher in the terms of a special study, we should consider two abilities. One is the ability to understand Korean knowledges and applicate it to teaching-learning practices, the other is the ability to plan and perform Korean education totally. To assess them, it is the followings which should be considered with regard to test items. One of them is test item which assesses the ability to applicate Korean knowledges to practices of Korean education and the other is the test item to assess the capability of problemresolving. With regard of essay items, it is very important to make scoring rubric concretely.
