대학수학능력시험(이하 수능)은 간단히 말하면 당해 년도 대학에서 학습할 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있는가를 측정하는 시험이다. 수능에 출제된 문항이 그 다음 해의 고교 교육의 방향을 바꾸어 놓는다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 학교 교육에 절대적인 영향을 끼치고 있다. 문제의 원리(the principle of problem)는 문제를 통해 측정하고자 하는 바가 정확히 드러나도록 문제를 구성하는 원리라고 할 수 있다. 문제의 원리를 잘 파악을 하게 되면 문제를 해결할 수 있는 원리도 쉽게 찾아낼 수 있을 것이다. 그런데 수능 언어 영역에서의 문제의 원리가 무엇인지 확인하기가 곤란하다. 문제의 원리는 문제를 해결하는 가장 유력한 방법으로 알려져 있다. 그래서 일선사교육 현장에서는 문항의 유형을 잘 파악하여 출제의도와 문제 구성 원리를 체득할 것을 주문하고 있다. 수험생들은 학교에서 배운 교과의 기본 개념과 원리를 토대로 하여 문제집 등을 통해 ``낯선 문항에서 정답 찾기`` 훈련을 함으로써 응용력을 키우는 것을 최선의 방책으로 삼고 있다. 한 가지를 대상으로 여러 가지 상상을 할 수 있는 것이 새 시대에는 뛰어난 능력으로 대접받는다. 사지선다형이나 단답형 등의 각종 문제지를 풀게 하는 것보다는 문제의 원리를 이해해서 스스로 원인과 결과를 찾아가게 만드는 주관식 학습을 유도하는 것이 좋다는 것은 명약관화하다. 이제 수능은 학생들 문제이면서 결국 우리 국어교육계에서 짊어질 책무이기도 하다. 우리 국어 교사들은 미래의 우리나라를 이끌어 갈 세대들이 자신들이 걸어가야 할 앞길이 ``어렵다``고 불평만 하거나, 그래서 쉬운 길로 가기만을 원하는 사람으로 성장하게 해서는 안 된다. 결국 수능이 한국적 상황에서 학생들에게 피할 수 없는 덫이자 제도라고 한다면, 이것이 갖고 있는 문제점을 직시하고 이것이 더욱 발전된 방향으로 개선하려는 공동 노력이 필요할 것이다.

College Scholastic Ability Test (the below CSAT) measures the student`s ability which will study in the university. The problem of the CSAT is causing a many effect in school education. But the principle of problem of CSAT is not known well. The teachers advise the students to grasp the pattern of the questions. It will be successful to an examination. It is important to understand the principal of problem rather than the test book. The students oneself studying which search a cause and a result is very good. The CSAT is the wild problem and a duty which our societies will be finally. The Korean language teachers do not become the students regarding the future of the themselves only dissatisfaction the printed style of writing. The CAST from Korean situation is the system which is not the possibility of avoiding in the students. It is that knows the problem point of the learning skill, it improves the cooperative effort necessary with the direction which is developed more.
