이 연구의 목적은, 근현대 한국 사회의 변화 속에서 진행된 동서양 윤리패러다임의 충돌과 융합을 반면교사로 아, 새로운 윤리패러다임을 위한 자주적 방법의 중요성을 지적하고 아울러 새 패러다임 모색의 전제조건들을 살펴보는 데 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 먼저 전통적인 유교 철학 특히 성리학의 방법이 갖고 있는 문제점을 살펴보겠다. 근대로의 전환기에 성리학은 관념론적 방법, 그리고 차별을 정당화하는 문화적 보수주의 때문에 근대적 발전의 사상적 패러다임이 될 수 없었다. 오히려 성리학의 방법은 일제강점기에는 친일을 정당화하고 해방 후 권위주의 시기에는 독재에 이용된 측면이 있었다. 한편 19세기 말, 20세기 초 서구로부터 수용되어 사회사상의 근간으로 자리잡은 사회진화론은 부와 힘에 대한 추구를 부추김으로써 자연과 사회의 동일시, 약육강식의 논리 정당화, 식민 지배의 합리화에 기여한 점을 지적할 것이다. 이어서, 일제 강점기 관념 철학과 황도 철학의 문제점, 해방 이후 보편화된 서양 철학의 방법이 지닌 문제점 등에 대해 살펴보겠다. 이들의 공통점으로 자주성이 결여된 서양 중심적 사고, 과도한 관념성, 기존 지배 질서에의 순응 등이 문제로 지적될 것이다. 마지막으로 철학과 학문에서 자주적 방법론으로 실학의 실사구시 방법, 그리고 능동적 융합의 방법에 대해 고찰하고, 이러한 입장에서 미래지향적인 새로운 윤리패러다임이 갖추어야 할 조건에 대해 살펴보겠다. 새로운 윤리패러다임은 무엇보다도 현대 사회의 복합적인 문제에 대한 통합적인 해결을 지향해야 한다. 새로운 윤리패러다임은 자유, 평등, 연대의 보편 가치를 공동체적 삶 속에서 구현하는 것이어야 하고 특히 사회적 평등, 민족자존, 인간적 생태환경과 문화적 삶의 구현을 담아내야 한다. 아울러 약자 배려, 공존과 조화의 지속가능성을 지향하는 미래지향적인 패러다임이 되어야 한다.

This thesis is written for the purpose to study on the importance of independence method and new paradigm for the development of a future in Korea. This Thesis is about the collision and fusion of eastern and western ethical paradigms. For this purpose, we deal with traditional Confucianism and western philosophy. Particularly we criticize that method of Sunglihak(性理學) is an idealism, a cultural conservatism, justifies a discrimination. And we criticize that Sunlihak justifies a colonial policy and dictatorship. Korean philosophers have received many western philosophies in modern times. However they lost a independence of philosophy in the course. And we criticize that they were idealists, accepted themselves to ruling order. And we propose the method of an independence and a fusion. Also we think that the method of an independence is need of new paradigm of ethics in the pointing of future. In the course of dealing with new paradigm of ethics, we emphasis holistic solutions on complex problems. And we think that new paradigm of ethics is an essential condition for well-being. As pre-conditions, we deal with problems in an independent unification, a natural environment, economic development. social well-being, cultural enjoyment etc. Concretely we propose a future new paradigm of ethics in the sustainability of coexistence and harmony. an important standard is the coexistence and harmony. And the profit of the weak is very important in sustainable ethical paradigm. We think that the problems and contradictions are need of criticism. Also we must consider man of the future world in the sustainability. In the end we must make a sustainable ethical paradigm, must practice the coexistence and harmony in our common future.
