이 글은 해외로부터 이주해 보살핌 노동을 담당하는 아시아 여성들이 지구적으로 증가하고 있는 현실로부터 출발한다. 본국에서도 주로 보살핌 노동을 담당해 왔고 이주해서도 대부분 보살핌 노동 영역에 배치되는 아시아 취업 여성의 상황에서 보살핌 노동을 둘러싼 담론이 이들 여성에게 갖는 영향력은 크다. 본문은 보살핌에 대한 오래된 관행을 여전히 지금도 지지하고 있는 시장 대 가정, 상품적 가치 대 윤리적 가치, 임금 노동 대 사랑의 실천 등등, "보살핌"의 의미를 구성하는 개념들이 이주 보살핌 노동에 참여하고 있는 여성들을 사회·경제·문화적으로 주변화하는 토대라고 보고, 그 이분법적 범주화를 해체하는 논변을 여성주의적 관점에서 제공한다. 보살핌은 시장의 다른 소비 상품처럼 교환, 분배되거나 생산 공장의 고용노동의 형태로 이루어져서는 안 될 독특한 관계적 활동임을 밝히면서도, 임금을 지급받는 "보살핌의 상품화"에 대해 부정적인 지배적 관념들이 `시장적인 것`과 `비시장적인 것` 간의 관계를 어떻게 잘못 설정하고 있는지를 밝힌다. 이것은 보살핌의 탈가족화를 부정적인 것으로 이념화하면서, 보살핌 임금 노동자를 천시할 뿐 아니라 가족 보살핌을 담당하지 않는 여성들도 비난하게 만드는 가부장적인 관념들을 해체하는 의미의 정치학의 일환이다.

This paper aimed to suggest the need for politics of meaning of "care" for those women participating in the migration, while paying attention to the phenomenon of Asian women`s migration happening in the globalization process. The politics of meaning around "care" has direct influence on the self-esteem of those women who have entered the migrant care work market and the meaning factors of social evaluation of them. By focusing on the politics of meaning that had not been given importance in other related studies, this study tried to explore the point where feminist care ethics and migrant women`s care work could meet. This paper found the ways in the viewpoint that approaches the commodification process of care-in which care becomes a labor commodity in the global market-as a social process in which the so-called politics of discourses or politics of meaning is at work. The concepts that constitute the meanings of care, including market vs. homes, commercial value vs. ethical value, wage labor activity vs. practice of love, still support the long-standing practices about care. This study saw these concepts as the fundamental basis for social, economic and cultural marginalization of those women participating migrant care work and tried to dismantle them.
