규방가사는 지역적으로 전승 범위가 넓고 시간적으로도 오랜 역사성을 가지고 있으며 오늘날까지도 이어지고 있다는 점 그리고 여성뿐만 아니라 남성도 참여했던 문학이라는 점에서 규방가사를 조명하는 시각은 기존의 연구 관점에서 벗어나 좀 더 확장되어야 할 필요가 있다. 본고는 규방가사 연구에서 지금까지 논의되어 온 여성문학적 관점이나 혹은 여성적 글쓰기의 방식과 관련하여 의미를 찾고자 하는 것이 아니다. 이 연구는 규방가사에 관한 기존의 연구사 검토를 통해 규방가사의 본질적 의미에 관한 새로운 패러다임을 제시해 보는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구에서는 규방가사의 창작 시기, 분포, 작자층, 시대성의 문제를 우선적으로 검토하여 규방가사가 오랜 시간성과 광범위한 공간성을 통해 적층성과 전승력을 지니고 있다는 점을 확인하였다. 이러한 보편성의 의미 기반을 바탕으로 볼 때 규방가사의 관습적 자질로 논의되어야 할 문제는 여성과 가부장제라는 문화적 보편성의 영역이 아니라 여성과 남성, 혹은 가족 사회의 관계성, 혹은 소통성이라는 점이다. 그간 규방가사의 장르적 성격에 대하여 우리가 중심에 두고 논의하였던 여성문학적 성격 혹은 그것의 관습적 특질들은 규범적 이데올로기에 의한 문화적 관습성의 주제나 표현 등에 관한 것이었다. 그러나 규방가사의 전통을 지켜 볼 때 규방가사의 존재 방식은 근본적으로 인간의 관계성에 중심을 두고 소통과 단절을 발화했던 것이라 할 수 있다. 규방가사는 우리 문화에 내재해 있는 인간적 관계에 의한 정서적 가치를 발휘하였던 작품이라는 점에서 그 속성을 찾아야 할 것으로 보인다. 말하자면 규방가사는 우리 문화 속에서 드러나는 `다정 다감`과 같은 정서적 관계성의 가치를 우위에 두었던 관습적 문화 속에서 파생한 것임을 생각해 볼 수 있다. 자식을 떠나보내는 부모의 심정을 그린 계녀가류나 소통과 결속을 중심에 두었던 화전가류나 자신의 내면 상황에 대한 한탄의 작품들은 모두 `다정다감`이라는 관계적 정서의 가치를 교환하거나 이루어내지 못했을 때 표출될 수 있었던 변주 양상이기 때문이다.

Since Kyubanggasa, a literature of both men and women, has come down for a long time in vast regions up to today, the perspective on it has to be extended beyond that of the researches so far. This paper is not about finding a meaning of Kyubanggasa in relation to feminine literary views or writing. This paper aims at revealing a new paradigm about the intrinsic meaning of Kyubanggasa through the recapturing of the previous researches. Examining the written dates, poets, era of Kyubanggasa I confirmed that Kyubanggasa has established tradition through a very long time in wide regions. Considering the meaning of this universality of Kyubanggasa it is the communication between men and women, not women in a patriarchal system that has to be discussed about. The feminine literary character or customary characteristics of Kyubanggasa that the previous researches primarily focused on are about the expression and theme of cultural tradition. But reflecting on the tradition of Kyubanggasa, Kyubanggasa mainly spoke about the mutual understanding and severance in human relationships. Thus, we have to study Kyubanggasa remembering that it includes the literary works that demonstrated the emotional values of the human relationships. We see that Kyubanggasa is derived from the traditional culture which prioritized the value of emotion in human relationships such as `warm-heartedness(다정다감)`. Gaeneo-songs which depicts the feelings of the parents parting with their children, Whajun-songs which centered the communication and unity, and other works that express the author`s internal grief all could be created due to the value of emotion such as `warm-heartedness`.
