이 논문은 여성적 글쓰기의 구체적 방식을 연구하고자 하는 시도로서 `여행`이라는 체험이 여성적 글쓰기를 통해 구체적으로 어떻게 드러나는지, 남성적 글쓰기와는 어떤 차이가 있는지를 살펴보고자 한 글이다. 그 대상으로는 19세기에 창작된 여성 기행가사 작품으로 작가가 밝혀진 <부여노정기> <이부인기행가사> <금행일기> 세 편을 주된 대상으로 하되, 가사로서의 특징을 드러내기 위해 부분적으로 <호동서낙기>와 같은 동시대 산문기록과 비교하였다. 이 세 작품은 19세기 당시 여성에게 있어서 여행은 어떤 의미로 다가왔는지 보여주고 있으며 아쉬우나마 19세기 여성 기행가사의 지형도를 이루고 있다는 점에서 중요하다. 그 결과, 여성 기행가사에 나타나는 서술상의 특징으로 여행지에서 만나게 되는 새로운 경험만큼이나 가족 중심적 서술이 두드러진다는 점, 여행 체험은 적절하게 글로써 표현되어야 한다는 전통적 관념에 의해 문학적 표현의 욕구가 강하게 드러난다는 점, 이념이나 역사적 배경보다는 정서적 체험이 강조된다는 점을 살펴보았다. 또한 이러한 특징들의 저변에 가문의식을 무엇보다 중시하는 사족 여성들의 존재방식, 여행 그 자체를 위해서라기보다는 집안행사의 일부로서 여행이 수행된다는 여행의 목적, 동일한 여행을 소재로 한다 해도 그것을 바라보고 표현하는 여성만의 방식 등이 놓여 있고, 바로 그런 점에서 남성작 가사와 차이를 지닐 수밖에 없음을 밝혔다. 19세기는 20세기 근대적 관광문화의 전사적(前史的) 단계로서 20세기가 되면 유람 내지 관광이 확대되고 두드러져 이를 소재로 한 여성가사도 상당수 전해진다. 19세기 여행을 소재로 한 여성가사는 20세기에 폭발적으로 증가한 유람, 관광 소재의 가사와는 다른 세계를 보여준다는 점에서 중요하다. 또한 여성작이라는 측면에 있어서도, 노정의 소개와 견문의 전달에 치중하는 남성작 기행가사와 달리 정서적 위안 찾기와 같은 여행의 새로운 의미를 드러낸다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다고 본다. 이 논문에서 시도한 접근방식은 여성 기행가사의 특징을 여성의 여행이라는 좀 더 보편적인 시각에서 바라보고자 하고, 나아가 19세기 기행가사로부터 근대로 이어지는 여성 기행 양식의 전개를 고려할 필요가 있다는 점에서 긴요하다. 근대 이후 여성의 여행은 어떻게 달리 표현되고 근대 이후에도 지속적으로 창작된 여성 기행 가사 속에서 여성 주체의 모습은 어떻게 달라지는가, 최근 가사 작품을 창작하는 현대의 여성가사 작가들이 특히 기행의 소재에 치중하는 까닭은 무엇인가 하는 것들이 이러한 맥락에서 앞으로 밝혀져야 문제라고 본다.

This article examined the characteristics and significance of Kyubang-Kasa(閨房歌詞, Kasa by women) which experienced the travel, focused on the features of Women`s Writing. The rule of Confucianism was strengthen women`s body and mind in 19th century in Choseon. Very few women could travel and left some writings in despite of restrain situation. The experience of traveling was the most dramatic moment on their whole life escaped from their own space, even though most of their traveling was for following their husbands or participating their family`s ceremony. This article find out three characteristics in their travel writings. 1) The women concentrated their family and the relationship with their family members more than the wonder of the traveling/experiencing new space. So, there were a lot of expressions about their feeling about their family. 2) The women were longing for literary representation with chinese characters. They couldn`t express their true feeling with the poem or essay when they experienced the wonderful scenery while traveling because women were not usually educated in Choseon. 3) The women`s expressions were more sensitive, more delicate and had more details than the men had when they wrote about the travel. That features means 1) The women thought the family the first and most. They made the family and the family name the most important part of their identities even though their family restrained or prevent a lot of things against their free, independent mind in the name of their families. 2) The women`s travel writings tried to express their own individual characteristics more that the men`s travel writings which tend to express the society`s rule or common expressions. 3) Consequently, the women`s travel writing had their own perspectives and the style. That was cause by the differences or the gender between men and women.
