이명선 선생의 구장(舊藏)으로 현재 국립중앙박물관에 소장된 《견문록》은 한글 편지 그리고 가사와 가사체 소설 외에 9편의 한글 제문이 수록되어 한글 제문 자료의 보고(寶庫)라 할 수 있다. 본고는 《견문록》에 수록된 한글 제문을 대상으로 여성 제문에 나타난 글쓰기 방식의 특징과 그에 의한 갈래적 변주 가능성에 대한 고찰을 목적으로 삼았다. 《견문록》 소재의 한글 제문의 글쓰기 방식의 특징을 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 일상적이며 자잘한 예화가 관습적인 과장과 결합되고 있다. 이러한 평면적 사실 혹은 과장적 진술이 반복적으로 나열되는 경우, 한글 제문은 율격적 안정성을 기반으로 연속되거나 확장되는 특징을 지니고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, `오호통재`와 같은 관습적 투식구를 경계로 독립적인 단락을 형성한다는 점에서 한문 제문과 유사하지만, 《견문록》 소재 한글 제문의 독립적인 단락의 내용들 가운데에는 죽은 자를 중심으로 한 다양한 가족 관계 구성원의 이야기가 편집되어 모아 엮어지고 있다는 점이 드러났다. 아울러 이러한 가족 관계의 기술 순위가 당대의 가문의식을 반영한 것임을 규명하였다. 이러한 한글 제문의 글쓰기 특징은 제문의 갈래적 변주 지향성의 요인으로 작용한다. 그 변주의 향방을 가사와 가전의 측면에서 고찰하였다. 즉, 율격적 확장성이라는 글쓰기 방식은 가사로서의 변화를 가져왔다. 또한 관계 중심의 편철적 구성, 일상적 삶의 구체적이고 특수한 상황에 초점을 맞추는 글쓰기 방식, 전고의 활용과 관습화된 표현의 적절한 배치는 가전과 만나는 지점임을 파악하였다. 이상의 논의는 이제까지 발굴되지 않았던 9편의 새로운 한글 제문을 논의 자료로 제공하고, 여성이 쓴 제문을 대상으로 구성과 표현의 측면에서 글쓰기 방식을 규명하는 동시에 나아가 제문 글쓰기 방식의 특징이 제문의 갈래적 변주와 관계있음을 밝혔다는 점에서 의미를 갖는다.

This paper aims at studying a funeral oration written in Hangul. A funeral oration in Hangul is mainly written by women. This paper also studies for funeral orations in Hangul which have been written by women. GenMoonLok is a book owned by Myungseon Lee and now kept in our National Museum of Korea. This book includes nine editions of orations in Hangul. This paper reviewed the writing methods shown in those nine editions of orations. First, those orations combine daily miscellaneous episodes with the customary exaggerations. In addition, it was confirmed that those were extending their contents with some rhythm. Second, they use such conventional stereotyped phrases as `OHoTongJae`, expressing phrases composed of other contents around this phrase. Such organization enables us to understand that various stories about their family members around the deceased were edited and organized together. Such writing characteristics acted as a factor oriented to the categorical variations for orations, which have been studied on the categorical variations with both the oration with fictitious facts and the oration with a fictitious biography. In other words, the writing method called rhythmical expansion brought forward the change as lyrics. In addition, the compilatory organization central to relationships, writing method focusing on the specific daily life and special circumstances, utilization of an authentic precedent, and appropriate arrangement of customary expressions were identified as the points on which a fictitious biography is converged.
