평가는 교육과정의 내적 구조 속에서만 이해되지 않는다. 사회적 측면에서 그 어느 것보다 제도적이고 정치적인 특성을 여실히 드러낸다. 본 연구는 현행 고등학교 교육의 특수성을 주지하고, 현재의 사회문화적 맥락에서 국어과 평가가 어떻게 이뤄지고 있으며, 개선의 여지가 있다면 무엇인지 살펴보고자 한다. `수행평가`와 `국어과 평가의 문제점`이라는 두 가지 주제에 대해서는 이미 많은 연구가 수행되어왔다. 원론적 수준이든 아니든 문제점에서 개선방안으로 나가는 방식은 더 이상 의미가 없을 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고, `고등학교` 상황에 보다 더 초점을 둔, 교사들의 목소리를 통해 이미 우리가 문헌으로 알고, 분위기로 짐작하고 있었던 문제들을 확인해보고, 또 각 경우마다 개선안을 붙여보았다. 선다형 평가에 대해서는 문항 개발과 관련된 지식과 경험이 부족하고, 수행평가에 대해서는 평가 내용 및 방법에 대한 지식이 부족하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 우선, 평가자간 사전 평가협의 과정을 통해 평가 계획을 철저히 수립하고 평가에 대해 공유하는 것이 필요하다. 또한 수행평가를 그 자체로 완결된 평가로 보기보다는 선다형 지필평가에 대한 보완적 평가로서, 상보적 역할을 할 수 있도록 구성하는 것이 중요하다.

Evaluation is considered as systemic and politic aspects in socio-cultural aspects as well as internal structure of curriculum. This paper`s aims are to survey the ways how Korean language evaluation is performed in this korean social cultural context and how the problems of evaluation is improved. So far, two thema of `Performance Assessment` and `Problems and their Improvements of Korean Language Evaluation in high school` are studied much. And so its study may not have significance, whatever it is principle or progressive. However, its findings show us that lack of expert-knowledges and experiences in development of multi choice test items, and that lack of expert-knowledge of evaluation in various performance assessment making. To solve these problems, first, pre-conference of assessors is planed and harmonious communications is accomplished. And there, plans of evaluation is achieved and viewpoints of evaluation is mediated. Performance assessment and multiple choice test are operated complementary.
