이 논문은 그 동안 국어교육의 논의 대상이 되지 못했던 무의미시를 대상으로, 무의미시가 국어교육 및 문학교육에서 갖는 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 무의미시가 의미를 구현하고 추구하는 과정을 `환상`을 매개로 규명함으로써 일차적으로는 국어교육에서 사고와 의미의 문제에 대해 새로운 시각을 제공할 수 있었다. 무의미시의 언어는 현실의 지시 대상(referent)을 갖는 대신 환상의 영역에서 새로운 의미감(a sense of meaning)을 창출하는 언어이기에, 지시 관계에 기반한 기존의 의미 개념으로는 설명이 불가능하다. 또한 환상을 매개로 하는 무의미시의 의미화 과정은 언어적 사고의 기본 양상인 수렴적 사고로는 파악될 수 없다. 그러므로 국어 활동에 개입하는 언어적 사고의 전모는 환상의 영역을 포괄하여 구조화될 필요가 있으며, 언어적 사고 현상으로서 무의미시의 의미화 역시 그에 입각하여 설명되어야 할 것이다. 환상을 텍스트 조건으로 하는 무의미시의 가치는 문학교육의 차원에서 더욱 적극적으로 자리매김 될 수 있다. 문학 생산 교육과 관련하여, 무의미시가 보여주는 상상 작용은 문학 생산 주체로 하여금 인간적, 언어적 한계를 넘어 대상의 본질에 도달하고자 하는 적극적인 언어 생산의 모델로 작용할 수 있다. 문학 수용 교육과 관련하여, 무의미시가 제공하는 자유는 독자로 하여금 경험 세계의 폭을 넓혀 줄 뿐 아니라, 시 읽기 과정에서 독자 자신의 능동성을 극대화하는 데 기여한다.

This paper was intended to elucidate the meaning and position of nonsense poetry in literary education and Korean education, which had not been a main issue all the while. Firstly, I tried to show new vision for subjects of the verbal thought and meaning in Korean education by defining the realization and pursuing process of nonsense poetry for meaning as `fantasy`. It is impossible to explain the language of nonsense poetry, because it produces the a sense of meaning in the field of fantasy instead of explaining its meaning by real referent. And we are not able to understand a series of processes which provide meaning to nonsense poetry with the convergent thought which has been fundamental aspect of verbal thought. Therefore it is necessary to take a concrete form of verbal thought which involves Korean education by including the field of fantasy, and the signifying process of nonsense poetry which is a thought phenomenon should be explained by this concept. The value of nonsense poetry which needs fantasy as a text condition could be positioned in the literary education level. Regarding the education of litrerary production, the function of fantasy which is revealed in nonsense poetry can play a language producing role for reaching the nature of object that exceeds the personal and linguistic limitation. And it could be concluded that nonsense poetry provides much degree of freedom to the readers in the education of literary reception, expands the range of experience, and contributes to maximize the activity of the readers in poetry reading.
