학교 현장에서 논술 평가의 방법을 활용하고는 있지만 평가의 신뢰도를 확보하지 못하고 있다. 이 글에서는 논술 평가의 신뢰도를 높이기 위하여 평가조언표를 활용한 논술 평가 방법을 제안하고, 그 과정에서 평가 조언을 활용한 고쳐 쓰기 지도를 해야 함을 강조하였다. 평가조언표를 구성하기 위하여 학생들의 논술 능력을 분석하였고, 그 범주를 지식, 표현 능력, 사고력으로 구분하였다. 또 각 평가 요소로 지식은 논점의 파악, 지식 활용 정도, 내용의 통일성으로, 표현 능력은 어휘, 문장, 구성의 적절함으로, 사고력은 자기 의견 생성, 논증의 타당함, 설득력, 독창성으로 나누었다. 평가 요소를 기준으로 논술문을 평가하는 방법을 체계화하였으며, 논술 능력의 수준을 판단하여 가장 핵심적으로 교정해야 할 평가 요소를 중심으로 평가 조언을 함으로써 고쳐 쓰기가 이루어지도록 하였다. 학습자의 논술 능력을 파악하여 가장 핵심적으로 교정해야 할 논술 평가 요소에 따라 평가 조언을 제공하면 더 쉽게 고쳐 쓰기를 지도할 수 있다. 학습자의 논술 능력에 맞는 고쳐 쓰기 지도를 하면 학습자로 하여금 논술에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 가지게 할 수 있다.

To enhance the reliability of essay assessment, the application of assessment standards and teaching method of rewriting are suggested in this paper. To establish assessment standards, the level of students` essay writing ability has been analyzed in the categories of knowledge, expressiveness and thinking ability. The `knowledge` can be evaluated at the aspects of `argument`, `correctness of knowledge` and `coherence`. The `expressiveness` is based on `vocabulary`, `sentence` and `organization`. Finally, the `thinking ability` can be divided into the categories of `creation of ideas`, `logicality`, `persuasiveness` and `originality`. The method of essay assessment are structuralized on the basis of assessment elements. Assessment advice is corrective feedback that must be followed after essay test through which the most crucial weakness of testee is determined. The advice after grasping the learner`s ability thoroughly can lead to easy rewriting and foster positive attitude of essay writing.
