이 연구는 글을 쓸 때에 필자에게 주어지는 쓰기 과제를 구성하는 요소에 대한 설정을 목적으로 한다. 이 연구에서는 우선 쓰기 과제의 유형에 대한 연구와 실제 쓰기 과제가 학생들에게 미치는 영향에 대한 연구, 쓰기 과제에 대한 분석 연구를 다각적으로 검토하였다. 그 결과 기존의 쓰기 과제에서는 명시적 혹은 암시적으로 다양한 주제와 목적, 독자 등을 구성 요소로 포함하고 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 쓰기 과제의 구성 요소는 학생들의 생각을 다양하고 풍부하게 이끌어내기 어렵다는 문제 인식에 기반하여, 이 연구에서는 쓰기 과제를 필자의 지식 차원과 과제의 상황 차원으로 나누어 제시하고자 하였다. 여기에서 필자의 지식 차원은 이미 필자에게 내재된 지식으로 글을 쓰는 과정에서 드러나게 되는, 주제에 대한 내용 지식, 쓰기의 목적과 쓰기의 과정에 전략적 지식, 독자에 대한 전략적 지식 등을 의미한다. 또한, 과제의 상황 차원은 필자의 외부에 존재하며 필자를 제한하는 요인으로 작용하는, 평가 준거, 시간 등을 포함한다. 학생들은 서로 다른 목적, 주제, 독자를 위해 글을 쓸 기회가 풍부하게 주어질 때에 필자로서의 힘을 얻게 될 것이다. 이러한 경험을 제공하기 위해, 쓰기 과제는 주제, 목적, 쓰기 과정, 독자, 평가 준거, 시간 등의 구성 요소를 다양한 형태로 제시해야 한다. 다만, 모든 학년에 이러한 구성 요소가 동일하게 작용하는 것은 아니기 때문에, 인지적 복잡성을 고려한 쓰기 과제 난이도의 위계 설정에 대한 연구와 실제 쓰기 과제 설계와 이에 따른 학생의 수행에 대한 경험적 연구는 후속 연구 과제로 남겨 두고자 한다.

This study aims to set the components of writing assignment when authors write essays. In this study, the study on the types of writing, the research on the effect of practical writing on the students and the comparative study on writing were reviewed multilaterally. As a result, the existing assignments have been found that it included a variety of subjects, objects, readers, etc. as components by implication and manifestation. Above components of writing assignment had difficulties leading students` different and deep thoughts so this study guides writing assignment in the types of the authors` understanding and the situation of assignment. The authors` understanding means the knowledge of the subjects as well as strategic understanding of writing`s object, process and readers, which were already inherent in authors but revealed in the process of writing. The situation of assignment includes criteria and time, etc. which caused authors to limit from outside. Students could been encouraged as authors by having ample opportunity for writing about different objects, subjects and readers. In order to provide these experiences, the components of writing assignment like subject, object, writing process, readers, criteria and time should be offered in many types. These components, however, acts differently on the students` grades so the study on setting rank of writing assignment based on the cognitive complexity, and the empirical study on the design of practical writing assignment and students` performance are left as follow-up study subjects.
