현행 교과서에서 한시 단원은 시 감상이 다만 표면적으로 이해되도록 내용이 구성되어 있으며, 한시의 평가 역시 시의 해석이나 형식, 또는 수사법을 묻는 기초적인 측면에 치우쳐있다. 한문 교과에서 한시 수업은, 교육 과정에서 말하고 있는, `한문의 심미적 향유`와 `선인들의 정신세계 이해`라는 교육 목표를 달성할 수 있도록 진행되어야 한다. 이를 위해서는 한시 작품에 나타난 한시 작가의 정신 풍모와 그것의 구현 양상인 시 작품의 미적 특질이 통일적으로 분석되어야 한다. 한문 교과서에 수록된 시 작가의 내면 의식은 대체로 `호협한 기상 견지`, `고적한 삶의 지향`, `지선의 가치 숭상`, `생의의 영속 희원`, `왜곡된 현실 비판` 등과 같이 나타나고 있다. 이러한 작가 의식은 구체적 작품 속에서 `호방`, `청신`, `전아`, `호쾌`, `비개` 등과 같은 시 풍격으로 형상화 되고 있다. 이와 같은 방식으로 시와 작가와 미의식이 유기적인 관계 하에서 분석될 때, 한시의 문예미와 더불어 당대 문인지식층의 시대정신을 이해할 수 있게 되고, 학생들은 이를 바탕으로 선인들의 정신문화를 비판적으로 수용할 수 있게 될 것이다. 이와 같은 효과를 얻기 위해서는 우선 題材 선정에 있어서 한시 작가의 정신 풍모가 뚜렷하게 드러나고 문학성이 짙은 작품을 선별하여 내용을 구성하여야 할 것이다. 지도 방식의 변화에 따라 한시의 평가 역시 詩語의 심층적인 의미와 미적 경계, 작가 정신을 묻는 수준에서 이루어져야 할 것이다.

The present Chinese-character textbook introduces Chinese poetry enough only to be superficially understood. The assessment of this genre also has a bias toward certain basic aspects like interpretation and rhetoric. Teaching Chinese poetry should be carefully planned so as to achieve the learners` understanding of "the ancestors` spirit" and of "the aesthetic appreciation of Chinese poetry", which are the educational objectives referred in the Korean 7th curriculum. For this goal, the spiritual features of the Chinese poets and their aesthetic traits should be synthetically analyzed. The inner consciousness of poets represented in the Chinese-character textbook includes `adhering to chivalrous spirit`, `loving solitude`, `pursuing the supreme good`, `hoping eternal life`, and `criticizing distorted reality`. Such consciousness is visualized as a certain style such as `openheartedness`, `freshness`, `elegance`, `intrepidity`, and `lamentation` in individual pieces. Analyzing poems, poets` spirit and their aesthetic sense organically, the learners can understand the spirit of the literary elites in those days as well as the literary beauty of Chinese poetry. Based on this appreciation, they will be able to assume a critical attitude toward the ancestral culture. In order to have such desired effect above, the poems which show the clear spiritual features of the Chinese poets should be selected for the textbook. The evaluation also needs to include some inquiries about the in-depth meaning of poetic diction, the aesthetic boundary, and the poet spirit.
