The purpose of this study was to understand the affect of social avoidance and unrest by cultural adaptation stress such as psychological malaise in mixing with people, the avoidance in social situation, the sense of uneasiness with a stranger and etc. when married woman immigrants are experiencing the process of acculturation in Korea. In this research, 118 married woman immigrants who are living in the province of Gyeong-Gi and Seoul were participated, and used `Acculturative Stress Scale for International Student` to measure cultural adaptation stress which is developed by Sandhu and Asrabadi (1994). And, also used the `Measurement of social-evaluation anxiety` which is developed by Watson, E., & Friend, R. (1969) and translated by Lee & Choi (1997) to measure social avoidance and unrest of married woman immigrants. Inspected surveys were calculated by using the SPSS/WIN 12.0. This study inspected with frequency analysis to analyze the general characteristics of participants, and with multiple regression analysis to understand the affect of social avoidance and unrest by cultural adaptation stress. The significantly level of all statistics were α=. 05 level. As a result, the following conclusions were drawn. First, there were significantly affects in social avoidance with sense of uneasiness with mixing with people and the avoidance about social situation like racial discrimination, homesick, fear, cultural shock and etc (social isolation, inferiority, strangeness and communication) in married woman immigrants. But, prejudice and guilty conscience did not affected in social avoidance. Second, there were significantly affects in social unrest within the sense of uneasiness with a stranger and the racial discrimination, homesick, fear, cultural shock and etc (social isolation, inferiority, strangeness and communication) in married woman immigrants. But, prejudice and guilty conscience did not affected in social unrest. In conclusion, this study showed that cultural adaptation stress when married woman immigrants are experiencing the process of acculturation in Korea could influence a lot in social avoidance and unrest by psychological malaise in mixing with people, the avoidance in social situation, the sense of uneasiness with a stranger and etc which can predict their psychological health.
