In China, it is commonly held that Chen wangdao`s Introduction to Rhetoric build a brand-new theoretical system of Chinese Rhetoric. The main part of this system is about the figures of speech. Undoubtedly there are original elements in the figure theory in the book, but we should also admit that there exist much more elements which are borrowed from or imitated after the foreign especially Japanese pre-modern rhetorical works. How to evaluate this part scientifically is still a pending but interesting question need to be answered. The question is also related with the further development of contemporary Chinese Rhetoric. The satisfying answer only lies in the large scale and unbiased investigations.
