이 논문은 기독교의 신구약 성경 기록을 중심으로 기독교 교리에서 보이는 언어(말)의 유형, 언어 기능, 언어예절을 분석하여 정리한 논문이다. 성격 기록을 분석해 보면, 언어(말)는 하나님의 말씀과 인간의 말로 나누어진다. 하나님의 말씀은 영원불변의 `로고스(logos)`와 상황맥락에 구체적으로 드러나는 `레마(rhema)`로 나누어진다. 인간의 말은 하나님의 형상을 본받은 것이고, 마음을 드러내는 것이며, 우리의 마음이 죄로 혼란스러워지면서 혼란해진 것이다. 성경에서 보여주는 말은 하나님의 형상 가운데 하나로서 창조, 소통, 인격 형성과 치료, 시판의 힘을 갖고 그 말을 하고 듣는 인간 삶에 작용한다. 긍정적 언어 기능은 인간이 육신의 정욕과 죄 때문에 타락하면서 말의 부정적 기능들로 바뀌었다. 그래서 성경에서 강조하는 언어예절은 긍정의 언어를 강조하는 `하라`의 예절과 부정의 언어를 금지하는 `하지 말라`의 예절로 나눌 수 있다. 인간이 하나님이 주신 본래의 말을 회복하는 것이 언어예절의 기본이며 그것은 성령의 말, 사랑의 말, 참된 말, 믿음의 말을 하는 것이고, 육신의 욕심대로 하는 말, 거짓된 말, 정죄의 말, 의심하고 염려하는 말, 비방하고 비판하는 말을 하지 않는 것이다. 언어의 혼란이 심해지고, 언어가 점점 험악해지는 우리 사회 언어환경을 되돌아보고 바른 언어관을 정립하고 언어예절을 가다듬는 데 기독교에서 강조하는 성경적 언어관은 중요한 기준으로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 본다. 성경에서 강조하는 바와 같이 생명을 살리는 언어, 사람을 사랑하는 언어, 올바른 인격을 형성하고 그릇된 마음을 치료하는 언어로 우리 사회의 언어가 바뀐다면, 갈수록 거칠어지고 혼탁해지는 우리의 말과 삶이 아름답고 서로에게 힘을 주고 행복을 주는 말과 삶으로 바뀔 것이다. 화법 교육과 또 일상 화법 생활에서, 성격에서 강조하는 언어 지식과 언어예절을 잘 알고, 각자 삶에서 실천하는 것이 우리 사회를 전전하게 하고, 생명 언어를 회복하는 길이 될 것으로 보아 기독교의 언어관과 언어예절을 정리했다.

In this paper, it is analyzed that two types of words in the Bible. The first word is God and HIS word, and the second word is human language. Again God`s words are divided into two types of words. One is `logos` which means the original God`s will unchangeable, the other is `rhema` which is revealed through prophets at a special context. In the Old Testament, we can find that human language is a gift given to human being from God to imitate God`s shape and to communicate with God as well as with each other. In chapter 2; I systemized the function of the word in the Testaments into four major functions, creation, communication, cure and judgement. After clarifying that the depravation of Adam and Eve due to their wrong desire has made the word to be corrupted, I emphasized that we should recover the original purity of the word. In chapter 3, according to the teaching of the Bible, I set up two types of regulation in language use. The first rule is `Speak this!`, to speak according to the Holy Spirit, of truth, of love, of belief and encouragement. The second rue is `Do not speak this!` Do not speak of physical desire, of lie, of slander, of doubt and judgement. In conclusion, I emphasized that for the recovery of word power in Korean society, every members should remind the original function of the word given from God, and use our language to restore the depraved mind of people to life at the reverence of God.
