본 연구는 다학제적 상황에서의 참여자들 간의 의사소통의 문제가 언어 사용이라는 측면에서 연구되어야 할 만한 가치가 있는 것으로 인식하고 연구의 의의 및 필요성 그리고 연구와 관련하여 먼저 생각해 보아야 할 몇 가지 점들에 대해 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 다학제적 의사소통 연구의 필요성에 대해 논의하고, 다음으로, 다학제적 의사소통과 관련된 언어 사용의 문제들에 대해 논의하였다. 다학제적 담화 상황에서의 언어 사용의 문제 중 특히 문제가 되는 서로 다른 분야 사람들끼리의 전문 용어 사용상의 차이에 대한 문제와, 학문적 방법론과 문화적 차이에 따른 서로 다른 수사방식과 그에 따른 의사소통 상의 문제에 대해 생각해 보았다. 마지막으로, 다학제적 담화 상황에서 의사소통에 영향을 미치는 요인들은 무엇이며 그에 대한 의사소통 참여자들의 의견은 어떠한 것인지를 다학제적 연구 참여자들과의 심층 면접을 통해 조사하고 그 결과를 정리하였다. 다학제적 연구에 참여하고 있는 참여자들은 성공적인 연구를 위한 조건 중 연구 참여자들 간의 의사소통을 가장 중요한 조건으로 들고 있으며 다학제적 의사소통을 성공적으로 수행하기 위해 가장 필요한 조건으로 참여자들 간의 인간적 신뢰와 친밀도, 인문학과 자연 과학의 기초적 지식 습득을 들었다. 다학제적 의사소통의 가장 장애가 되는 것은 각 분야별 소통 방식의 차이를 이해하고 문제에 집중하며 도표나 그림 등 시각적 자료를 활용하는 것으로 조사되었다.

This paper aims to study on Communication patterns on the interdisciplinary research situation and find out key conditions for effective interdisciplinary communication. Firstly, we defined the concept and the practice of interdisciplinarity. Secondly, we discussed the importance of communication in successful interdisciplinary research and examined the language use in interdisciplinary communication. Through the examination, we find out that there are big differences in the use of terminology and rhetoric pattern between disciplines and the differences cause disturbances in interdisciplinary communication. Finally, we carried out interviews with 12 researchers who participated in the interdisciplinary researches to verify the results of examination. We asked the informants 4 questions we analysed the answers. The questions are as follows; (1) What is the condition of successful interdisciplinary research? (2) What is the key of successful communication in interdisciplinary situation? (3) What is the most serious obstacle to communicate with people in other disciplinary fields? (4) What do you do to solve the problems?
