이 논문은 호네트에 의해 인정 이론적으로 재구성된 사물화 비판과 루카치에 의해 정식화되어 서구 마르크스주의 사회 이론에 큰 영향을 끼쳤던 고전적인 사물화 비판의 차이를 밝히고자 한다. 루카치 시대와 마찬가지로 오늘날에도 사물화 문제가 여전히 중요한 사회 병리 현상으로 남아 있다면, 그리하여 그간 시효가 만료된 것처럼 보였던 사물화 비판이 오늘날에도 여전히 적실성을 지닌 사회철학의 과제라고 한다면, 사물화 문제와 인정 이론의 관계가 궁금하지 않을 수 없다. 이 논문에서는 루카치의 사물화 이론이 어떻게 해석되느냐에 따라 사물화 비판의 모델이 다르게 구성될 수 있음을 감안하여, 호네트의 루카치 해석을 실마리로 사물화 비판 모델을 인지 모델과 인정 모델로 나누어 그 차이를 살펴보겠다. 호네트는 자신의 인정 모델이 기존의 전통적인 인지 모델에 대해 발생적으로 뿐만 아니라 범주적으로도 우선성이 있음을 강하게 주장하는데, 이로써 그는 자신의 인정 이론적으로 재구성된 사물화 개념이야말로 루카치의 문제의식을 오늘날의 상황에 맞게 다시 부활시키는 것임을 입증하려 든다.

In this article I try to make clear the difference between the critique of reification reconceptualized by Axel Honneth`s theory of recognition and the classical one which was formulated by Lukacs and had a great influence on the Western Marxism. As reification remains one of the important social pathologies in these days and its criticism also must be one of the timely subjects in social philosophy, as it was in Lukacs` days, we need to be concerned about what the problematics of reification has to do with the theory of recognition. In this paper I elucidate it, carefully considering the difference between the cognition and the recognition model of the critique of reification which could be made on the ground of what Honneth thinks about Lukacs` problematics. Honneth puts forward the strong claim that his recognition model is prior to the outdated cognition model genetically as well as categorically. By doing so, he tries to demonstrate that the conception of reification reconstructed by his own theory of recognition only serves to give Lukacs` critical mind of reification a new life matching the times.
