이 글은 표현주의 쓰기 이론이 가지고 있는 특징과 한계에 대해 생각해 본 것이다. 표현주의 쓰기 이론은 개인의 자유로운 상상과 창조를 강조한 쓰기 이론이다. 이는 개인의 의미 구성 행위를 강조한다는 점, 동료 간의 협의 활동을 강조한다는 점, 실생활에 밀접한 글쓰기를 강조한 점 등에서 나름의 의미를 지니고 있다. 하지만 이는 글쓰기 행위의 과학화를 저해하며, 글쓰기 지도자 입장에서 보면 글쓰기 지도에서 가르쳐야 할 내용이나 방법 등을 설정하는데 어려움을 느끼게 한다. 또한 의사소통적 글쓰기를 약화시킬 수 있으며, 글쓰기를 둘러싸고 있는 상황적 측면에 대한 배려가 부족하다.

This thesis criticize expressionism writing theory. Of cause, This theory has some meaning, I think. But This theory neglect the communicative writing, social contexts around writing behaviors, teacher`s role. In writing instruction setting, We must accept the benefits of this theory appropriately. But We admit the problems of this theory also. For example, This theory can be applicate begning writing, and poetic writing, self expressive writing.
