Recently, the automatic inspection technology has gained an important role for running flexible manufacturing system in product line. This paper proposes the method to improve the efficiency of the automatic inspection system on the sculptured surface in flexible manufacturing system. For the automatic inspection system, product recognition and localization methods are studied. Also, proper measuring coordinates selection method for inspection is suggested for effective inspection. While the number of inspection points increases, the defect decreases. However, the increasing the inspection points delays the production line. Therefore, this paper studies the efficiency of measuring points selection on given number by shape of sculptured surfaces. The system successfully shows the ability of product recognition and the effectiveness of measuring point selection method in examples.
