This paper is intended to research the storytelling strategy of the Harry Potter series novel. The ultimate factors that had made the Harry Potter series as the world`s number one brand value($4 Billion dollars) cultural-content is due to the perfectness of its contents, and also to its great excellence. The reason why the storytelling part gets the attention among various success factors is because that is the key element for creating the basis of contents as well as the core medium that can make other elements closely interlocked. This paper investigates the storytelling strategy of this novel as follows: 1) The creative integration of a familiar narrative structure that is verified by popularity. 2) The dramatic harmony with the independence of micro narrative and macro narrative. 3) The establishment of a multi-layered narrative through the intention of plural main-characters. Therefore, a familiar narrative structure that has generality and motifs such as a foundling motif, an illegitimate child motif and a finding father motif were arranged strategically. In addition some micro strategies were followed, such as the combination of quest narrative and a stage structure, the creative succession of school stories tradition, a subversive alternative for fantasy and a viewpoint of the connection with others for the real world and intensifying the elements of enjoyment by using micro contents. Also, it successfully achieved the dramatic harmony with the independence of micro narrative and linear integration of macro narrative. It is known that the strategy to make various enjoyments is established by building the multi-layered narrative through the intention of plural main-characters. The study for this novel on its value as an original contents in the future and an adaptation strategy into other genres should be continuously carried out.
