문화주의를 매개로 숙명적 혈연관계를 맺어왔던 신문과 문학의 관계가 1950년대에 접어들어 질적으로 변화한다. 문화적 명분의 쇠퇴와 철저한 상업적 이해 관계가 압도하는 양상으로 그 관계가 조정되는 것이다. 그것은 신문자본이 처한 상황과 불가분의 관계를 지닌 문화적 현상이었다. 정치권력에 맞선 민권수호투쟁을 통해 사회문화적 권력을 유지·강화하기 위한 정론성 경쟁과 안정적 이윤 확보를 위한 증면경쟁이 치열하게 전개되는 신문계의 판도에서 모든 신문저널 리즘은 생존의 활로를 필사적으로 모색해야 했고 그 결과로 극단적인 상업주의 전략이 추구될 수밖에 없었다. 신문의 전략 변경에 의해 문학은 하나의 상품이며 문인은 그 상품을 공급하는 기능적 존재가 된다. 강화된 상업주의적 기조에 따라 신문이 선택한 대표적 문학상품이 연재장편소설과 아동문학이었다. 연재 장편이 주력상품으로 선택됨으로써 통속화가 촉진되고 신문 선택적 글쓰기를 강제해 작가층의 분화를 추동했으며 문학/비문학의 극단적 분할구도가 고질화 되기에 이른다. 신문이 시장성이 큰 아동문학, 특히 소년소설과 장편동화연재를 선별해 집중 배치함으로써 아동문학의 상업성이 촉진되고 장르적 분화를 촉발시킴으로써 아동문학지형 전반을 재편시키는 영향력을 발휘한다. 이렇듯 신문내지 신문과 문학의 근본적인 관계 변화는 1950년대 문학의 역사적 존재방식을 거시적으로 규정한 중요한 기제로 작용했던 것이다. 그 근본적 변화가 잡지저널리즘, 출판저널리즘의 변화와 상호연관 속에서 이루어졌다는 사실을 감안할 때, 1950년대 저널리즘 전반을 아우르는 동태적 접근이 요청된다.

This thesis aims to discuss the forms of historical literature used during the 1950s by investigating the relationship between journalism and literature both comprehensively and synthetically. The relationship between newspapers and literature had fateful consanguinity as a result of culturism. However, this has changed qualitatively since the1950s. Moreover, literature is a product which has been controlled by the interest through the deterioration of facts and the growth of gross commercialism. This product is entirely produced by the literary man. According to a strengthened commercialism keynote, the serial long novel and the juvenile novel were the typical literature products that were chosen by newspaper. The serial long novel was chosen as the main item, and popularization had been facilitated. It had made the differentiation of the writer classes promoted since selective writing was forced. Also, the extreme division composition of literature and non-literature were chronic during this time. Once the newspaper selected juvenile literature, especially boy novels and the marketable long children`s story, it facilitated the popularization of juvenile literature and the genre division.
