이 논문은 문법교육이 현장에서 외면 받고 있는 현실을 반성하고 실현 가능한 문법교육의 모습을 찾아가기 위한 이론적 논의에 해당한다. 문법교육은 독립적으로 문법 지식만을 교수-학습하기 위한 교육이 되어서는 안 된다. 이에 문법교육에서 텍스트의 개념을 적극적으로 수용하여 ‘텍스트 중심 문법교육’의 관점을 설정하였다. 텍스트 중심 문법교육에서의 텍스트는 단순한 언어 자료가 아니라 ‘분석 대상’으로서 다양한 문법 요소를 내포하고 있는 것이다. 학습자는 다양한 텍스트를 수용하며 텍스트의 의미를 먼저 파악하게 된다. 이때 의미 파악은 ‘통합적 국어 활동’을 통해서 수행된다. 그리고 텍스트의 의미는 ‘문법적 의미’를 기저로 정확하게 파악될 수 있다. 요컨대 텍스트를 중심에 두고 문법 요소를 탐구하는 문법교육의 원리는 문법적 의미가 통합적 국어 활동에 의해서 역동적으로 소통되는 것이다.

This study is a theoric discourse that aims at searching for the proper way to apply the Grammar Education in a field of Korean Language learning & teaching. The Grammar Education no longer put objectives on delivering the grammar knowledge. So this study suggests a new perspectives of the grammar education, "The Text-Based Grammar Education", by re-conceptualizing an original concept of the Text. The text on the text-based grammar education is not a simple language material but a target of analyzing, so texts involve various grammar components. Learners get the meanings of text when they first read many texts. At this point, learners understand the meanings by doing integrated language arts, "listening, speaking, reading, writing". When learners get the meanings of texts, the Grammatical meanings could help them understand the meanings more precisely. In short, principles of the text-based education have a core element, that is a dynamic "Communication" with the grammatical meanings by the integrated language arts.
