지역사회중심 훈련프로그램은 지적장애학생의 직업적응을 높이는 효과적인 교육방법 중의 하나이다. 본 연구는 특수학교와 일반학교 특수학급의 중·고등부에 재학 중인 지적장애학생을 가르치는 교사들을 대상으로, 지역사회중심 직업훈련에 대한 그들의 인식을 조사하여, 지역사회중심 직업훈련프로그램을 개발하고 적용하는데 필요한 기초 자료를 얻는데 그 목적을 두었다. 조사를 위한 설문지는 3개영역에서 총15개 문항으로 구성되었는데, 구체적으로는 지역사회중심 직업훈련의 필요성과 직업훈련 실시 허락에 대한 인식, 지역사회중심 직업훈련 실시를 위한 지원과 방법에 대한 인식, 현재 학교의 직업교육과 지역사회중심 직업훈련 실태에 대한 인식 등으로 구성되었다. 본 연구는 충남 서북부 지역에 있는 특수학교와 일반학교의 특수학급을 담당한 교사를 대상으로 회수한 총 72부의 설문지를 분석에 사용하였다. 설문조사에 응답한 교사들은 지적장애학생의 성공적인 직업적응 및 자립생활을 위해 지역사회중심 직업훈련이 실시되는 것은 매우 필요하다고 반응하였다. 그러나 현재 학교에서 지역사회중심 직업훈련을 단편적이고 일회적으로 실시한다는 인식이 많았으며, 특히 특수학교보다 특수학급에 있는 교사들이 현재 실시되고 있는 직업교육에 대해 더 만족하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 교사들은 지역사회중심 직업훈련의 실시를 위해 관련기관의 협력, 실시 장소, 전문 인력 등의 지원을 요구하였으며, 대부분의 교사들이 지역사회중심 직업훈련을 실시할 경우에 지적 장애학생을 위해 최대한의 지원과 도움을 제공하려는 의지가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The main concern of the education for students with intellectual disabilities is to improve their abilities of successful job adjustment and independent lives. Community-based job training is one of the effective methods to promote job success and community integration for students with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of teachers on the community-based job training in terms of transition and vocational education. Seventy-two teachers who worked for students with intellectual disabilities in special schools(N=41) and self-contained special classes of general schools(N=31) were included. The questionnaire of the study consisted of three domains and 15 items regarding community-based job training and vocational education. The results were as follows. All of the teachers agreed that the community-based job training was necessary to successful transition and vocational education for students with intellectual disabilities. About the satisfaction of teachers on current vocational education, there was different perception between teachers of special schools and teachers of special classrooms of general schools. Teachers in special classrooms of general schools hosed more negative response about the current level of vocation education. Although most teachers wanted to participate in community-based job training programs for their students, they responded that related support and services in both school and community settings were necessary for conducting community-based job training programs. The results of this study can be used as basic resources in planning and implementing community-based job training programs.
