이 논문은 유명씨 고시조 작품의 내용소 색인어 가운데 내면 표출과 관련된 색인어들의 시대적 분포 양상을 통계적으로 분석한 것이다. 여기에서 다룬 부문은 ① 관념·의식, ② 심적 태세, ③ 감정, ④ 소망 등 4개 영역이다. 색인어 분석의 방향은 출현 빈도가 매우 높은 색인어를 우선적으로 주목하고, 낮더라도 시대적 차이가 분명한 색인어들을 그 다음 고려 대상으로 하여 시조사적 의미를 파악하고자 하였다. 이러한 색인어 통계 분석은 고시조의 장르적 성격은 물론, 시조사의 다층적 층위, 내면 지향의 흐름과 변모 양상, 시적 인식의 추이와 형상화 방식의 변화 등에 대한 다양한 정보를 제공한다. 예컨대 내면 세계와 연관된 색인어의 빈출 빈도로 보면 개체적 존재의 내면 정감을 담아낸 ``감정`` 영역의 색인어보다는 유가의 가치체계나 공적 이념을 표상한 ``관념?의식`` 영역의 색인어가 훨씬 높다. 이는 시조가 순수 서정시로서 개별적 욕망이나 시적 상상력을 노래하는 것과는 또 달리 집단적 이념이나 세계관을 그려내는 방향으로 응집력을 보여 왔다는 사실을 암시한다. 또한 17세기에 들어 ``이법``이란 색인어가 현저히 감소한 요인으로는 도학적 근본주의의 쇠퇴와 내면주의적 지향의 이탈 현상과 무관하지 않은 것으로 보인다. 우리 시조사에서 ``무상``이라는 색인어가 시조사의 全시기에 걸쳐 높은 출현 빈도를 보이는 것도 주목할 만한 현상이다. 이는 우리 시조의 시적 관심이 유가이념의 전일적 투사에만 몰입한 것이 아니라 동시에 현재적이고 직관적인 삶의 감각 또한 존중해 왔음을 의미한다. 본고는 이렇듯이 통계 결과에 대한 귀납적 분석을 수행하였다. 그러나 이러한 연구가 색인어 자체에 대한 계량적 분석 수준에서 머무른다면 다분히 표피적이고 추상적인 결론에 도달하기 마련이다. 따라서 통계분석이 종래의 작품론 및 시조문학사 연구 방법론과 교섭할 때, 시조사의 맥락이 좀 더 풍부하게 드러나게 될 것이다. 본고에서는 이 양자를 회통하고자 주의를 기울였다.

This paper aims to analyse the historic distribution of index terms relating inner expressions among index terms about content of Si-Jo in the statistics. The covering parts of this study is as follows: ① notion·consciousness, ② mental posture, ③ emotion, ④ desire The index terms that is clear historical differences are covered though the frequency of appearances is very high or low. From this, it can be inferred the historic meaning of Si-Jo. The statistic analysis of index terms provide various informations about characteristics of Si-Jo genre, layered stratum, the flow and transformation of inner-oriented, transition of poetic perception, and literary formation. But if it is confined to analyse only index terms, the conclusion are bound to be abstract. Therefore, when the statistic analysis of index terms combine with existing work reviews and research methods, the historic contexts of Si-Jo will be more clear. This studies are disserted with particular attention paid to this point.
