이 논문은 재일 디아스포라 소설가 유미리의 에세이에 나타난 세계관과 민족의식, 트라우마의 양상과 맥락에 대해 탐구하기 위해서 씌어졌다. 유미리의 에세이와 소설들은 전통적인 재일 디아스포라문학과는 구별되는 문학세계를 보여준다. 유미리는 특히 몇몇 에세이에서 자신의 세계관과 문학관을 선명하게 드러내는데, 그 세계는 민족주의적 코드로 회수되지 않는 무국적의 현대성을 인상적으로 보여준다. 유미리는 민족의식에 편승하면서 글쓰기를 진행하는 것이 아니라 한 사람의 보편적 인간이 마주치는 현대적 실존과 고독, 정신적 트라우마에 대해서 형상화한다. 이런 맥락에서 보면 유미리가 한국어를 배우고자 하는 의도가 전혀 없다는 것은 충분히 수긍할만하다. 그녀의 에세이와 소설은 민족적 정서나 지역성보다는 현대인이 조우하는 황폐한 실존과 상처를 소재로 하고 있기 때문이다. 그렇기에 유미리의 문학세계는 재일 디아스포라 2세대, 혹은 3세대의 변화된 문제의식과 습속을 보여준다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 유미리의 에세이에서 주목해야할 요소로 언어에 대한 민감한 자의식과 자살 충동으로 상징되는 정신적 트라우마를 들 수 있다. 유미리는 언어가 지닌 보편성과 가능성을 극한대로 밀어붙이면서, 문학적 글쓰기를 전개하고 있는데, 이런 세계에서 민족의식이 싹틀 여지는 없다. 또한 유미리는 언어의 표현 가능성을 최대한 밀어붙이는 글쓰기를 보여주고 있다. 여기서 주목해야 할 사실은 또 다른 재일 디아스포라 여성작가 이양지와는 달리 유미리의 트라우마에는 역사적 맥락이 최소한도만 개입하고 있다는 사실이다. 유미리와 이양지의 문학적 차이는 곧 재일 디아스포라 문학의 변화 양상을 인상적으로 보여주는 바로메터라고 할 수 있다.

This paper is for the research on the Post-Nationalism and trauma presented in the essays written by Yumiri(柳美里, 1968~), a Korean-Japanese novelist in Japan. Yumiri is the diaspora novelist highly evaluated in Japan as well as Lee Yangji(李良枝, 1955~1992). Yumiri`s literature doesn`t show any interests in the Nationalism or her mother`s country. Instead, her literature shows the Universality of Modern existence based on Post-Nationalism. That she has no plan to learn Korean represents the writer`s stance which in far from Nationalism. Yumiri is the writer who has very sensitive self-consciousness with language. She has felt incompatibility with both Korean and Japanese. This fragmented identity is similar to the one of another diaspora critic, Edward Side. Yumiri has tried suicides several times and has trauma in her mind. Her trauma comes not from historical context but from existential matter. On this ground, Yumiri`s trauma is quite different from the one of Lee Yangji`s. Yumiri`s novels are very meaningful as one of the representatives of the new Diaspora Korean Literature in Japan which corresponds to the new change in this Age.
