현 시점에서 한국이 산업기술 경쟁력을 제고해야 하며 이를 위해 대일 기술적 협력을 강화해야 하는 데는, 중국경제가 한국에게 기회인 동시에 위협요인으로 더욱 빠르게 접근해오고 있기 때문이라는 점과 함께, 그렇기에 가능한 한 현재와 동일하게 중국에 대해 기술적 우위성을 계속 유지할 수 있는 전략을 전개하는 것이 필요한 시점이라는 문제의식을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 한국과 일본의 산업 및 경제구조, 경제성장 패턴 그리고 기업의 경영패턴 등의 유사성과 긴밀성을 고려하고, 한일 양국의 산업 및 기업환경의 급격한 변화 등을 반영한 보다 미시적인 접근방법을 도입하여, 한국 부품소재산업의 대일 협력 확대의 가능성을 고찰하는 데 중점을 두었다. 특히 한국 부품소재 산업 및 기업은 꾸준한 기술경쟁력 제고에 힘입어 상당부분 대일 의존도를 낮추면서 상호 의존관계를 심화시키고 있는 것으로 관찰된 만큼, 한·일 양국 부품소재산업 및 기업간 기술협력의 필요성을 공감할 수 있는 토대는 충분히 형성되었다고 할 수 있어, 이를 위한 세부 협력방안을 제시하고자 하였다.

This study aims to provide a New Paradigm for Expansion of the Part Material Industry between Korea-Japan Cooperation. In particular, we measured the international technological specialization (ITS) index between Japan and Korea, which provided a foundation for studying the structure of Korea`s the part material industry heavy dependence on Japan`s the part material industry. The empirical results showed that Korea still depends quite heavily on imported the part material industry from Japan. The results also showed clearly that Japan is gradually becoming more dependent on Korea`s the part material industry. This implies that the technology gap between Korea and Japan has gradually narrowed throughout the sample period. And this paper also derives from the Method of four for expansion of part material industry in Korea-Japan cooperation.
