이 글은 이상 소설의 장르 확장의 문제를 작가의 실천적 삶의 가치와 소통하는 차원에서 조명하고자 하였다. 그 결과 이상 소설 장르 확장의 특징은 1) 수필적 경향의 메타 현실 반영적 타자성 2) 희극적 경향과 패러디의 풍자적 주변성 3) 시적인 은유와 매체화의 유목적 주관성 등으로 파악되었다. 이에 따른심층적의미는다음과같이 해석된다. 첫째, 수필적 경향의 메타현실 반영적 타자성은 비규범적 소설 장르의 속성을 보여주는 지점에서 식민지 지식인의 정체성을 보여주는 이상 자신의 경험을 타자화하는 방식으로 식민지 현실에 대한 독자의 비판의식을 강화하는 효과를 거둔다. 둘째, 희극적 경향과 패러디의 풍자적 주변성은 크로노토프의 혼합적 구성 원리의 구체적 실현 방식으로 식민지 현실비판을 주변적 인식으로 확대하는 효과를 더한다. 셋째, 시적인 은유와 매체화의 유목적 주관성은 이상이 보여준 현실 유희로 소설공간이 새로운 국면으로 창조될 수 있음을 시사하는 동시에 독자로 하여금 식민지역사를 체휼하는 희생양으로서 이상의 실천적 삶의 가치를 보게끔 한다. 결과적으로, 소설 장르를 확장한 이상의 탈근대성은 인간과 하느님의 소통을 지향하는 측면에서는 복음주의와 닮아 있으며 식민지 역사를 구체적인 경험으로 증언하는 측면에서는 탈식민주의 의식과 닿아 있다. 이와 같이 이상의 탈근대적 존재의식은 식민지 현실에 대한 역설적 저항의 유희로 물화된 근대와 폐쇄된 식민지의 부조리한 삶을 넘어 문명과 자연 그리고 신화와 과학기술이 통섭하며 신과 소통할 수 있는 행복한 삶의 조화를 꾀한 것이다.

The purpose of this article is to enlighten genre expansion of Sang Lee`s novels in terms of communicating with the writer`s presence awareness in colonial period. From the results of analysis, the unique characteristics of the genre expansion of Sang Lee`s novels can be summarized as follows; First, the otherness reflected meta-reality transferred Lee`s own experience to other person`s and reinforced the scope of readers` criticism. Second, comic trend and parody of satirical peripheral enlarged colonial criticism of reality to peripheral awareness. Third, poetic metaphor and nomadic subjectivity of media implied that the writer`s actual play could create the new phase of novel form and, at the same time, readers could see the value of Lee`s practical life as a scapegoat lived in colonial period. In conclusion, Lee`s postmodern poetics of existence expanded genre of novel and reflected his presence awareness which had tied with evangelicalism or postcolonialism.
